Terbinafine...

I am on terbinafine for my fingernails. They werent all gnarly and yellow like toenails get but beginning to peel off from my fingers!

I obviously didn't want to lose my fingernails - but I absolutely cannot cope going on tjis drug again. Ive had insomnia for the whole months, anxiety is worse and the resulting tiredness is having a HUGE knock on effect on my life and happiness.

I swim a lot. Is there anything I can do to either prevent or cure it if it ever happens again? I really cant do this again but hear of others when it comes back repeating the course. I really can't. But I dont want to lose fingernails.

They arent normal nails but very thin anyway so I wondered if topical something might actually work.

Help!? My doctor is lovely but just prescribes meds and I am struggling.

If it’s fungal I’ve treated a toenail using tea tree oil and vicks vapour rub. I’ve rubbed some on the nail several times a day and it’s definately reduces the yellowness and looks much better. Takes a few months though.

I wonder if its worth trying that after swimming.

Mine werent yellow but I need them not to peel off my fingers - i guess whatever i do needs to work faster than them coming away!

Can you get a free consult with a plastic surgeon at a local Nuffield? Plastics specialises in hands (or would redirect you if not) and might be able to advise if it's worth paying for help
