Fractured knee?

Anyone had this type of injury before? Trying to decide whether or not to get this checked but I fell up some stairs yesterday and smashed my knee, its bruised and swollen, I can’t put weight on it without incredible pain and my leg physically can’t straighten.

I’m loathe to sit in a&e if it’s just a bad knock but it’s incredibly painful!

Sounds like it needs an xray.

SoupDragon · 16/09/2018 19:28

Yeah, unfortunately I think it needs looking at too.

PLEASE get it checked. My lovely DM didn’t get her “bad knock” checked and 10y later it causes her such problems and pain

Please go and sit in A&E!

Please get it checked. DS fractured his knee, it was missed on an xray, he was in a lot of pain then made it worse.

My mother hit her knee age 52. She has had multiple surgeries, treatments and physio for 4 years now. It's still bad, a very worrying place to hit. Go to A&E

go to a&e
you neec an x-ray.

it might not be broken, but knees are funny structures and even soft tissue or ligament damage is very debilitating.

Off to a&e I go then! Thank you, will go tomorrow and will report back for anyone that’s interested. Thankfully working from home tomorrow

You migght have bursitis, a bruise under the knee, but if it is broken the treatment is very different, so an xray would be important in this case

Sounds like a possible tibial plateau injury - go get an x ray
