Blackpool - Anyone been there recently?

Can you recommend a decent B&B? Would you recommend one or two nights?

I was there last summer, we stayed in the Premier Inn up at the Pleasure Beach end, its recently refurbished and the rooms are really nice. No breakfast included but there's a Wetherspoons just round the corner for a cheap and cheerful breakfast. I'd say go for two nights, the Pleasure Beach takes a day on its own and the Sandcastle water park is good, but go early because it gets really busy later on. The zoo is worth a visit and DD could have happily spent all day in Coral Island playing the amusement machines and collecting tickets.

Can I recommend the Camelot Seafront Hotel? Owner Andy is brilliant, it’s been recently refurbished and the breakfast is fab. It’s just by the pleasure beach and right on the seafront. We go every year as a family and we’ve never had a single complaint.

Def do two days. If you’re going in September, Friday nights are world fireworks championships.

We stayed at The Windsor Carlton up the north end. It was lovely.

MrsMotherHen · 16/09/2018 10:36

we stayed at the premiere inn aswell its really nice and about the same price as some BnBs.

PolaDeVeboise · 16/09/2018 10:39

Thanks all. Would prefer 'old skool' B&B, just for old time's sake :D :D

Avoid the plaza beach hotel it's bloody awful but strangely has some good reviews but I flushed the loo and it came up in the shower Angry

someonekillbabyshark · 16/09/2018 10:45

We're are you coming from? Personally wouldn't stay in B Pool but I live close and only go for the Primark Wink

PolaDeVeboise · 16/09/2018 11:20

We're coming from Scotland - it's 'September Weekend' this weekend and thought we'd take the kids the way our parents used to :D

Friends have been recently and recommended the Big Blue hotel after some disappointing B&B stays.

EscapeToTheMoon · 16/09/2018 12:10

I went to the Big Blue in July. Blackpool is rough as fuck but this hotel is the biz.

someonekillbabyshark · 16/09/2018 13:20

@EscapeToTheMoon it is defo rough I won't go without my DH and I'm normally don't care about that kind of stuff!!

lalafafa · 16/09/2018 13:25

lalafafa · 16/09/2018 13:27

It is rough around the edges, we have great walks down the coast to Clevelys, Bispham. The Tower is great for watching people ballroom dancing. Primark is great too.

TolpuddleFarter · 16/09/2018 13:32

We really like St James Hotel on the North Shore. The family room there has a lovely sea view, and is a lovely room. We have been unable to book there for when we want to go this year though, which is a shame.

LARLARLAND · 16/09/2018 13:33

The Claremont was the hotel my grandparents went to every year. Everybody had a hotel they favoured and that was theirs.

Crinkle77 · 16/09/2018 13:38

I have stayed at the Viking which is a sister hotel if the Cliffs and Claremont as recommended by lalafafa you can get some really good all inclusive of dinner bed and breakfast deals.

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 16/09/2018 13:46

We went in the summer and stayed at The Sandhurst. It's literally a 30 second walk to South pier and the sandcastle. It's an old skool B&B run by a really friendly Muslim family. My dh who is also a lapsed Muslim couldn't believe it. They made a good English breakfast.

Redyoyo · 16/09/2018 17:57

We are like you, September weekend thought we would take our kids as our parents did when we were kids. Never again, it was crazy busy, everywhere was mobbed. We stayed in the haven park in Fleetwood which was great to get away from the crowds and we could go for a wee drink once we got back from blackpool as i wouldn't take my kids into a blackpool pub tbh.
We would go back to blackpool but not the September weekend, it was too busy.

Rarfy · 16/09/2018 18:02

I stopped in Sorrento House. Was probably a good 10 years ago but a lovely b&b in a fairly good location. Would recommend.

Boopboopb · 16/09/2018 18:05

Do not touch the AA Hotel with a barge pole.

It was hell. Like an unfunny episode of Fawlty Towers mixed with 24 hours in police custody. Hmm

LARLARLAND · 16/09/2018 18:32

The Dalmeny Hotel in Lytham St Anns is very nice if you are looking beyond Blackpool.

PolaDeVeboise · 16/09/2018 18:36

Nooo @Redyoyo, don't put me off! Grin

Athol hotel

Alltheprettyseahorses · 16/09/2018 18:40

Love Blackpool. The Craig Y Don is our favourite here. It's slightly run-down but great fun - just like Blackpool I suppose. They put on kids' entertainment too so the parents can go and play bingo while they're entertained by the magician Grin

YouGotRedOnYou · 16/09/2018 18:56

Stayed at the Craig Y Don years ago. Woke up to random naked bloke pissing in a drawer before trying to climb in bed with me.
