Universal credit. More than 2 children from Feb 2019 loss of tax credits.?

Hiya. I'm a mum to 4 kids. I'm on ESA.

My ESA claim runs out the end of this year.

Originally I was told I couldn't claim UC as I have 4 kids.

Now it's saying from Feb 2019 you CAN claim if you have 4 kids but there's a 2 kid limit,

So does that mean if they say I have to claim UC that the part that replaces CTC is going to be halved?
I'm terrified. I already live on the breadline.

I want to claim ESA again but I don't know if I will be allowed.

Anyine know anything about this?

Go and see your local Citizens Advice and ask for a benefit check. They will be able to help.

Why are you getting ESA? if you are still unable to work can't you reapply before it ends?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/09/2018 14:48

I didn't think ESA claims ran out. Are you on CB one. If so you'll just need a medical to reclaim,I think anyway. Even if heaven forbid you fail. 8/10 appeals are successful.
I think the 2 child limit only applies to children born after April 6 2017 not children existing before then.

They do.

I thought the 2 child limit is only for children born after April 2017.

If you put in a new claim after Feb 2019, for example if you split up with your husband and have to make a separate new claim as a single parent, then you are only entitled to universal credit for 2 children, no matter when they were born.
I have a larger than average family and cannot believe we have a government headed by a woman who has approved this change, it will keep so many women trapped in relationships.

Becca19962014 · 20/09/2018 15:26

You'll be sent an ESA50 form when the claim ends and then you'll be reassessed which you may or may not have done previously.

If unsuccessful you'll need to claim universal credit whilst appealing and you then remain on it even if you are successful at appeal as you cannot go from universal credit back to a legacy benefit which ESA is and you'll get whatever the amount is you're entitled to under universal credit. It's a way they're moving people over which isn't well known.

The other way the switch happens is change of circumstances a PP has mentioned above.

Think what you will of 5he benefit cuts for kids born after April 2017. Some would say and would say "There is plenty of contraception out there. They knew the score and some would also say "That's fair comment".
However children born before then are here now. What the fuck are the parents supposed to do sell them ffs. Angry
