getting an iPhone 8 plus?

Hi, i am due an upgrade and currently have a Samsung s8+. I want to get an iPhone as we are going to get DD an iPod touch for Christmas and that way she will able to facetime me.

I've looked at the prices for the new iPhone XS and the old iPhone X, but they are more than I want to spend. The 8+ is around the same as what I pay now.

Should I get an 8+ or wait longer?

I love iPhones (I currently have an X and I will be getting the XS Max when it is released) and my DH says that his 8 Plus is great.
Don't make being able to use FaceTime your only reason - you can use Skype or WhatsApp for that.

Can you put whatsapp on an iPod touch? I haven't used one yet. I've had iPhones, but not for a few years.

Yes. You can have all the same apps as iPhones and iPads. You will need Wi-Fi, but so does FaceTime.

I've got the 8+ and I love it. As a PP said the X isn't worth the extra money.

You can only use WhatsApp on an iPod touch through the browser. There isn't an app and no way to install it without jailbreaking. And god knows I tried everything!

It's personal preference. I think the X is very worth the money. Depends what you want from a phone.

I have an 8plus and it's great. The normal ones are too small for me.

You could get the iPhone Xr. Screen as big as the 8 Plus in a phone that isn't that big. Also has most of the main selling points of the XS without the price tag.

I have a X and it's the best phone I've owned but yeah it ain't cheap. At least the Xr is more reasonably priced (for an Apple product)

Xr is £749 whereas the 8 is £600.

I would get the XR, it's only £50 more expensive than the 8 Plus and with much better features. Also Apple slowing down phones means it makes little sense to buy an 'old' phone, unless you need to save some money.

The iPhone Xs is due out this week so I would leave it a few more weeks as you may get a better deal.

@southeastdweller Erm, iOS 12 speeds up all supported devices.

There was an issue with the battery on the 6/6s that somehow became 'Apple slow down all phones'

I just got the Xr and it's brilliant. It's $749 in the US, which is a lot less than 749 GBP. I didn't know they got marked up that much in the UK.

I had the 8+ and loved it. My friend wanted to buy it off me so I upgraded to the XS max. I don't k is if it's the phone or the new update but I find it much less intuitive and quite clunky.
