What would you do?

Birthday child (9) has SN meaning organised games are out. Need to aim for max. 7 year old level. Likes science so was thinking about just letting them play. Then, when that gets too fractious, doing a couple of simple experiments i.e something that they can do themselves without making too much mess. Will be winter so I have to plan for indoors.

Science related party bag, or experiment they've made that they can take home.

i would do exactly as you said above. maybe for the experiments, mentos in a coke bottle, glowing milk experiment ( www.learnplayimagine.com/2013/09/glowing-magic-milk-experiment.html ) and maybe some aqua sand? ( www.growingajeweledrose.com/2014/05/homemade-aqua-sand-recipe.html ) you could then have an ice cream topping station for pudding? all the best x

This site has some good things to do.

The coloured tablets you dissolve in water went down particularly well. They come in primary colours and then you mix them to make new colours. Simple but very effective with that age group. Not too spendy or messy either.

There are some great ideas on Pinterest - I'm organising a science themed party for my 11 year old and have found loads there to try. Slightly concerned I'm going to get flagged up on some database when I try to buy hydrogen peroxide, though. 😬
