Bed : King or superking?

BabySharkDoDoDoDoDo · 14/09/2018 23:29

Have a double right now but need more space as DDog now shares with us Grin

Would going from double to king feel like a big difference? Or should I go for super?

Not masses of room in my bedroom bit i literally only sleep here so I'm not bothered about floor space really.

If you have the room, super king. I wish we had done that.

IvorHughJarrs · 14/09/2018 23:32

We have a superking and I would hate to have anything less now. Go for it!

Lemontwist · 14/09/2018 23:33

Superking! We don't have a massive room. There's enough space for wardrobes and beside cabinets and little else but it's the best thing we ever bought.

FuckingHateRain · 14/09/2018 23:34

Super king here too, with integrated TV! Would never go back

DistractedByIrrelevance · 14/09/2018 23:34

Superking! Getting bedding is a pain, but worth it.

FinallyHere · 14/09/2018 23:34

How tall are you, would you notice the additional length of a superking?

newcupcake · 14/09/2018 23:36

Super king here too ! The only disadvantage I've found is when you go on holiday you have to go somewhere really posh to get an equally good size bed 🤣

Canshopwillshop · 14/09/2018 23:37

Superking definitely. It’s not the length it’s the width that makes the difference -.well worth it.

BabySharkDoDoDoDoDo · 14/09/2018 23:38

Finally I'm only 5ft5 BUT Ddog sleeps above my head. So my thinking is I can have enough space to move down with my pillow so she can sleep above my head without me being squished

We have seperate double duvets anyway so bedding is ok. Would just need a few sheets.

Am actually going to build my own base and buy new mattress.

Definitely superking, with a double duvet each.

eelbecomingforyou · 14/09/2018 23:40

Yy to superking. The four of us can all sleep in it if we want to... fabulous.

FTFF · 14/09/2018 23:42

Super king every time if you have the room. The extra space is amazing. The only problem I have is I now can't sleep in a normal double bed with DH feels claustrophobic 😂

PickAChew · 14/09/2018 23:46

I was going to say that my issue with a super king would be the weight of the duvet, but I see that you already have individual duvets.

One thing that struck me, this time last year when I was house hunting, is how many houses, even above the rock bottom price range, have master bedrooms too small even for our king size.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/09/2018 23:50

Super king. Dh insisted on buying one 5 years ago. I grudgingly admitted the other day that it's amazing.

BabySharkDoDoDoDoDo · 14/09/2018 23:50

There would only be walking room around the bed and enough space to just open wardrobe and drawers but I can deal with that

If you have the space, super king every time. Standard U.K. doubles are tiny. King size is adequate. Super king is so much more spacious. It’s a complete no brainier.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/09/2018 23:51

That's pretty much our bedroom but it's worth it. I spend more time in the bed than around it.

ThisIsTheNational · 15/09/2018 00:03

King with a super king quilt here... but you have that sorted.

Frusso · 15/09/2018 04:15

Also king with a super king Dovet here

TheArtfulScreamer · 15/09/2018 12:52

Yep superking here to, got one 14 years ago and would never go smaller now and would not consider moving to a house where it wouldn't fit. Hate staying in hotels with just a double now as DH is far to close to me 😂

TowerRingInferno · 15/09/2018 12:55

Super king

I went from double to king a few years ago and have regretted ever since. I’m about to upgrade to a super king. The only thing is that once you get used to a bigger bed it makes it really uncomfortable to sleep in other peoples houses or anything other than luxury hotels.

Flexoset · 15/09/2018 13:02

Another vote here for superking! Especially if you only really use the bedroom for sleeping and dressing. No-brainer.

Atalune · 15/09/2018 13:03

Super king. It’s 20cm wider than a king, which doesn’t seem much.... but it is worth it!

However if it is a squish in your bedroom I wouldn’t. Making a superkong bed takes room!

fussychica · 15/09/2018 14:07

We have a king af home but the apartment we rent in Spain and spend a lot of time in has a super king. Definitely like the super king better. However, we just stayed in a gite which had a super king with two separate single mattresses zipped together and that was absolute bliss. Couldn't tell DH was even in the bedGrin
