I was in a supermarket today when I was asked for ID to buy some alcohol. I didn't have any on me as I'm 32, looked a bit rough today and left my purse at home. Plus I haven't been ID'd in about 2 years.
Anyway I explained that I didn't have any ID. That I was very sorry but I'm 32 and just assumed I'd no longer have to show it. The cashier just sat and blinked at me for about 2 minutes. She didn't utter a word. Didn't carry on checking my items out. I felt very uncomfortable. I managed to shout a manager over and told him whilst I was flattered that I'd been asked for my ID I am in fact 32 and could I take the alcohol (the annoying thing was they weren't even for me but for my bloody DH who's older than I am)
Anyway he took one look at me and said "yep you can take them" and then the cashier just carried on swiping through my items (so very slowly). I couldn't wait to get out of there. I've made a mental note of what she looks like so I don't go back to her till. Quite possibly one of the strangest experiences I've had. Nowt weird as folk.

I don't think I do though. I think she was just an absolute jobsworth. I hate being ID'd more than anything else in the world, you get to a certain age and it's just embarrassing. To be honest my friend got ID'd for paracetamol when she was 22, that was pretty hilarious.
