Functional Skills (Maths)

I'm looking for more information for the functional Maths level 1 course that is run by my local council.

I only received a GCSE 'D/E' for my maths 20 years ago. I've been looking at training to become a teaching assistant via the OU, but would obviously need to up my qualification and understanding in Maths. My English and science I received a 'B'

I cannot find anywhere online where I can practice for these tests.

I have bought a Maths for Dummies book and I'm working my way through that, and although I'm finding it ok, I don't seem to retain information for maths very easily and I'm not very quick to get the answer. I'm panicking now whether I'll pass the test or the subsequent test for teaching in Maths as I'm quite slow?

any help gratefully received.

Have a look at this BBC Bitesize Functional Maths - it should give you some help plus I think CGP do a Functional Maths workbook - try Amazon.

If you go on the exam board websites you can download past papers. I use edexcel ( the answers are there too)
