Somewhere lovely for a 60th birthday meal - West Yorks

My lovely dad (who lives down south) will be coming up to visit us in W Yorks in early November, and will turn 60 while he's here.

I'd like to book somewhere for a lovely meal out and just want a bit of inspiration please!

He's quite a 'young' 60, so nothing too twee, but quite set in his ways as well (so wasn't overly impressed with Fazenda in Leeds when we took him)

He likes real ale and traditional pub food. He's also fond of a curry or Italian. I want somewhere that feels special enough for a big, significant birthday, but not too hoity-toity, as that's just not him!

There's likely to be half a dozen adults and 4 kids, and I'm willing to push the boat out budget wise, if it's somewhere amazing.

Any recommendations MNers?

For curry I'd recommend Mumtaz in Bradford or Akbars (one in Leeds and one Leeds road, Bradford). There's also a lovely big Aagrrah (not sure of spelling) at Thornbury roundabout.

Oh thank you. I'd probably avoid Bradford though, if I'm honest. I'm not a fan Blush

The Box Tree in Ilkley used to be very flash. I've never been so I can't give a personal opinion. There are two Mediterranean restaurants and a good Italian in the Yeadon/Rawdon area of Leeds.
