PPI claim

Going through the process, filled in lengthy form, got phone call last night to answer further questions. Told that will know the decision within 2 weeks. I am worrying I have not been consistent with what I put on the form vs what I said during the conversation. Felt almost like they were trying to catch me out even though I was unaware I actually had ppi initially. Anyone any experience of the process / reasons for success/ refusal? I know it's only 2 weeks to wait but I'm not very patient can you tell Smile

I did dh's for him, no phone calls and we got £2k back in about a month.

He's never actually had ppi so they must have put it on without his consent.

Kinraddie · 13/09/2018 15:01

I remember feeling the same when they phoned me...I couldn't remember a thing as my claim related to 25 years ago! I think it's just a box they need to tick- they need to call and ask you questions. I got @£900 back.

Highland Warrior - who did you use? I know me and H had PPI on a number of accounts in our youth but have absolutely no details or recollection of who the loan etc were with! Did you already know all these details? Wondering if it’s possible to do it without? Thanks

Longdistance · 13/09/2018 22:12

Hi guys

I claimed PPI but didn’t use any of these companies. I did it myself. Some companies charge 40% I just tried to use my memory as to who I had credit cards with, store cards with.

Go on to resolver website. Easy! I got £2k back

namechanged0983 · 13/09/2018 22:15

... sorry forgot to mention it's free AND easy

bellsbuss · 13/09/2018 22:22

I did one with HSBC 4 years ago and got nearly 12k back, couldn't believe it as was only expecting 2-3K. A friend got nearly 25k , think mine took about a month

bellsbuss · 13/09/2018 22:23

Oh I did if myself through the bank

Girlsnightin · 13/09/2018 22:41

I got 3.5k back and DH 5k. Did it ourselves. DH had no account numbers so we wrote to all the companies asking for details that we then used to claim back PPI. We put a claim to any finance institution we'd dealt with as some miss selling was where you wernt told about it. So when people say to me 'I've never had PPI' I think, neither did we and we got 8.5k back! That's the whole point, it's been mis sold.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2018 08:48

We didn't have any account numbers at all.

Those claim companies just write to a load of the most popular lenders and ask if you had ppi.

Even the banks websites say not to use them.

HighlandWorrier · 14/09/2018 11:10

annie987 - sorry not sure as went direct to bank as knew the old account details etc. If you can remember who the lenders were first step is to contact them they should be able to find your old account details. Hope that helps and good luck!

We did it ourselves and no phone calls. We've had many thousands back.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 14/09/2018 11:27

Almost 20k back claimed just by me. No need to use companies.

They don't try to catch you out tbh.' I don't remember' is a perfectly good answer if you don't recall any details.

itoldyouyouwouldntlikeit · 14/09/2018 12:02

I got £50... and I have to give £20 to the company. I hope it was a good use of their time

SwordToFlamethrower · 14/09/2018 14:20

Thanks to this post, just spent the afternoon filling out online claim forms for PPI. Hopefully i will be abke to report a good outcome without 40% commission to pay.

HighlandWorrier · 14/09/2018 17:05
