Grumpy - am I alone?

I’ve got a cold and I’m in sole charge of DS, 7mo. I’m always in sole charge Mon-Fri as DH works away and I’m on mat leave, but today I’m not enjoying it at all. Feel horrendous, cheeky monkey has been up since 6 (it’s now 8.30, we’re not in the U.K.), and I just need a good cry, a good cuddle and preferably a Mary Poppins figure in the house!

Please tell me I’m not alone in having a bad day?!

I remember those days - absolutely horrendous. Hopefully you can take some day nurse, lemsip or paracetamol. Hope it goes away quickly! 🙁

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/09/2018 13:55

Oh bless you! Sounds tough.

I'm grumpy - went out with a friend this morning and the little community shop had nothing GF so I had a cup of tea Grin

easternedge · 13/09/2018 14:04

I'm grumpy too ! My posting history today is testament to this!
Thanks for you!

Goostacean · 13/09/2018 18:43

I mean, I love a cup of tea- but it’s obviously better with a treat on the side!

Slightly less grumpy, baby fell asleep half an hour after I posted, I dosed up on paracetamol, my lovely cleaning lady has been and gone so things feel nice and fresh.

I just want more sleeeeeep. Hope your days have also improved...!

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/09/2018 20:45

Oh it didn't really Hmm but it sounds like yours did. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. Are you going to shove the baby into DH's arms as soon as he walk in? Grin

I did run off to Tesco and go buy a treat after everyone had settled!

Goostacean · 13/09/2018 20:51

I wish... DH is only back at like 11pm tonight, I’m not planning to wait up although usually I do and we catch up. But this week I need my sleep!

I miss Tesco!!! We have other supermarkets here obviously, but it’s not the same... I also miss the treats aisle of M&S food shops. And my family. 😭

Ooh ooh, forgot to ask- what did you get??

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 13/09/2018 20:54

I am so frequently grumpy that it is just my personality now.

I have busted my ass since we got home from a trip away. 3 loads washing, tidying, kids dinners, put toddler to bed, put over wrought preschooler to bed. Finally sat down and less than 10 minutes later, toddler woke up crying. Said "ffs DS" as I got up to go see to him (Still breastfed for sleep) and DH had a go at me!!! Fuck off 'D'H.

Goostacean · 13/09/2018 20:57

Aw man. Feel your pain, I can see why you’re grumpy...! (Understatement).

Sometimes (D)Hs are not as helpful as they probably want to be...

OP posts:
WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 13/09/2018 20:58

Pffft. If he wanted to be helpful he could have hung up the last load of washing as I settled the kids to bed instead of sitting on his fucking arse.

DS went back to sleep 10 minutes ago and I am.sitting in his room in a grump.

Goostacean · 13/09/2018 21:02

Despite promising myself I’d keep my phone-time to nap time, I can’t face everything and am sat on MN by a whiny DS, occasionally attacking his runny nose with a muslin... Nearly bedtime.
Do you have a nice treat you can emerge and eat/drink/watch?

UnderHerEye · 13/09/2018 21:05

Hi OP I was just about to start my own thread asking if anyone else is feeling like a grumpy bugger this evening !

And I don’t even have a good excuse I’m just in a shitty mood for no reason! Hope you feel better soon OP

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/09/2018 21:06

A GF/DF pudding thing that wasn't as nice as I'd hope and coke for the first time in ages...

Hope bed time comes soon for you both

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 13/09/2018 21:06

I think I will just go downstairs, get some water and go to bed. DS is cutting about 4 teeth at the moment so I'm probably in for a shitty night. I hope you and your baby feel better soon FlowersBrewCake

Goostacean · 13/09/2018 21:10

You too, @WhatAmI, that sounds so tough for your little one :(

@MrsJones That’s disappointing... I found some coke in the fridge, but it was flat. Annoying.

@Under thanks! I’m actually a bit less grumpy now, DS is doing okay and had two long naps today. We just had a little dance around to some terrible R&B on the radio and that cheered us up a bit... What’re you doing tonight?

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/09/2018 13:03

How are we all?

I'm mid sorting the pig sty house just stopped for lunch.

Goostacean · 14/09/2018 13:27

Slightly better thanks, baby woke at 2 and 6 (it’s his new routine 🙄) but at least dropped off for another two hours after his 6am feed.

Any nice weekend plans? :)

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/09/2018 20:13

I'm hibernating Grin Was meant to see a friend, but she's had to cancel. You?

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 14/09/2018 20:27

We are going to the town fair tomorrow. I had a tiring but productive day of tasks at home, and I think both kids are asleep. Time for a cuppa and Netflix. DH has pulled his finger out of his arse a bit more today too.

Work on Sunday but I should be in the office by myself, so I will have peace and quiet to see what sort of shit show my inbox is after a fortnight away Grin

Goostacean · 14/09/2018 23:21

Those sound like excellent weekends! Except for having to work... but at least it’ll be peaceful for you.

We are flying to an area of natural beauty in Argentina (we’re currently living in S America) on Sunday, which was a last minute booking as we weren’t sure DH would get time off next week. So... I guess packing, and travelling!

Have a lovely adventure Goostacean

Goostacean · 15/09/2018 21:13

Thanks, hope you enjoy hibernating! I’m very envious, am so tired today and have an earlyish flight tomorrow.
