So I accidentally cracked a temporary filling in An upper tooth on Monday and have a dentist appointment on Friday morning. Tonight though oh my god! I'm on naproxen and paracetamol with copious amounts of orajel!

The pain isn't really in my tooth, it's underneath it, spreads to my lower jaw, ear, neck and eye! My face is killing me! It hurts so much! It's like my face is on fire! I've got a bitch of a headache too! Sad please help me! Will ice Work? Or whisky?

It sounds as though you have an infection in your gum. Go and see a doctor or go to the Emergency Room at your local hospital. You probably need some antibiotics and some strong pain relief. Good luck.

I don't think a&e will see me as it's teeth. I will ring my dentist in the morning though

Vodka. Swill it around the broken tooth. Try to hold it over the tooth
Or So am cotton wool in vodka and hold on tooth. Repeat when necessary. See dentist in morning

Soak

MoorMummy · 13/09/2018 00:47

Ok . You need co codamol the strong ones (I can’t remember the numbers 30/500? ) . You’ll be out of it so can’t drive or work.

Clove oil on cotton wool too. Don’t bother with a and e based on a thread on here earlier this week they won’t touch you.

PointlessUsername · 13/09/2018 00:59

Warm salt water rinse?.

You have my sympathy Flowers gum infections are the worst.

MrsCatE · 13/09/2018 01:00

Poor you. Second clove oil; bit like strong wasabi on first application but does numb well!

BritInUS1 · 13/09/2018 01:09

Phone the dentist first thing - it sounds like an infection

In the meantime painkillers and try holding an ice pack on your jaw

Rockbird · 13/09/2018 05:12

You poor poor thing, that was me last weekend and I seriously would have shot myself if someone handed me a gun, it was unbearable. I did go to A&E and they gave me antibiotics which totally cleared it up. By the time I managed to see the dentist it was nearly gone. You have my utter sympathy Wine

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 13/09/2018 05:20

A&E will help you! They had me on anti biotics, anti emetics and anti inflammatories after I got a dry socket post widom tooth removal. I had no idea wisdom teeth removals weren't all that awful. I was in there with DD who had fallen off her bike but the on duty dr saw the size of my jaw and treated me as well. Blush They definitely can help with teeth stuff if it's bad.

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 13/09/2018 05:21

Careful with the clove oil advice though. You can burn your gum and you wont always feel it. It needs to be diluted with a carrier oil. Coconut or olive oil. Don't put it on neat!

OddestSock · 13/09/2018 05:36

I hope you're feeling a bit better xx

Heatherjayne1972 · 13/09/2018 06:21

You need antibiotics op
Please don’t take your own tooth out. Let the dentist do it

Whatsthispain · 13/09/2018 06:25

Sounds bad. Please dont leave it too long without getting antibiotics.

erinaceus · 13/09/2018 06:40

Emergency dental care does exist. My dentist sees cases like this same-day. Even out of hours one time I accesssed dental care at the weekend via an emergency dentist at a nearby hospital who patched me up with an interim solution until I saw my regular dentist. I can't remember how I accessed this - maybe 111 or using emergency contact details on my dentist's website?

Hope you feel better soon, have you got anyone with you for support?

Newyoiker · 13/09/2018 13:28

I've got antibiotics, I woke up this morning with my eye swollen shut so I walked into the dentist and she gasped at me clearly repulsed and got me in to the dentist ASAP. Can you imagine a worse advert for a dentist then a severely swollen woman wandering in and gurning at the receptionist Grin

Glad you’re being treated. There’s absolutely nothing more soul destroying than blindingly awful tooth pain.

Until the antibiotics kick in my foolproof treatment plan (I’ve had a lot of shitty dealings with teeth) is 1. Orajel Max the one from behind the pharmacy counter 2. Co-Codamol and ibuprofen 3. Hot water bottle on affected cheek. It got me through a fucking awful cracked wisdom tooth.
