Allergic reaction symptoms with flu?!

This is going to sound completely mad but hear me out!

Posted earlier on, pretty sure I have flu - sudden onset yesterday of sore throat, headache, fever, awful stomach etc. No coughing or sneezing.

Tonight, the inside of my mouth and throat and parts of my face are really itchy. I have anaphylaxis to nuts and seeds and it feels like the early stages of a reaction except I most definitely haven’t eaten anything I’m allergic to. I’ve barely eaten at all as I feel like shit. All I’ve taken is ibuprofen.

Has anyone ever experienced symptoms like this with a virus? It’s making me a bit nervous, as I haven’t had a proper allergic reaction for years.

The itchiness could be caused by inflammation rather than a real allergic reaction. If your symptoms don't improve or get worse it's worth a visit to your GP.

It's not really flu season yet if you're in Europe or North American, although I ran out at lunch time and got my flu vaccine.

Feel better soon.

My son gets hives and sometimes mild angioedema with viral and bacterial infections. Just his bodies way of coping.

Thanks all - if it’s nof flu then I have no idea what it is, it’s very strange. Never had flu (possibly once at university nearly 20 years ago) but it seems to match the symptoms. Never had this symptom from a cold, but then what I have now is definitely not a cold - no sneezing, no coughing yet, but there is gunk Envy

Will see how it is tomorrow morning and call the doctors if necessary - pretty sure it’s not actually an allergic reaction as it’s been at this level for a couple of hours now and hasn’t gotten worse.

We have had a bad cold virus in our house this week starting with a very dry itchy throat no sneezing ,sick tummies headache.Definitely not flu but a horrible dose all the same

Did it turn into a cold? I’m so dreading my twins and DH catching it - it’s the boys birthday on Sunday and I’ve cancelled their little party as I don’t want to get everyone else sick. I feel bloody dreadful - strange white noise in my ears, all over pain, nausea, etc. It’s rough.

It’s mainly inside my mouth and around the edge of my mouth that’s itchy which is really strange. Never had anything like that before outside of allergic reactions.

Really hoping I feel better tomorrow but not getting money on it!

Could you have Hand Foot and Mouth OP?

welshmist · 12/09/2018 22:49

I was thinking hand foot and mouth my son caught it from his children, he thought it was flu to start with.

Maybe - do you get symptoms before the blisters appear?

It’s so strange - this morning my sinuses are absolutely full of gunk but still not a single cough or sneeze.

Whatever it is, I hope it disappears soon. Still slightly itchy mouth but not as bad as last night.
