Books with a character who has ASD for an 8 yr old...

DS has suspected ASD (waiting for a diagnosis ATM), he's just turned 8 and is very academically capable and loves reading.

I'm trying to help prepare him for the likelihood that he will get a diagnosis and want to find him some books with characters who have autism. He's just finished Double Felix (about a boy with OCD and I think Asperger's who is obsessed by the number 2) which he absolutely loved and I'm looking for more books along the same lines for him.

Any ideas? There seem to be a fair few for teenagers/young adults and also for much younger children but I'm struggling to find stuff that's age appropriate but also interesting for him!

Watching with interest as I think DS1 and DD would really benefit from books where the protagonist is autistic!

Sorry OP to jump on your idea, I wish I knew of some!

The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime is a good one Smile

The Blue Bottle mystery by Kathy Hoopman was enjoyed by mine around that age. There are two follow on books as well.

Is there a children's version of the curious incident? I've heard it recommended a couple of times but it's not one I would have given to mine at that age.

Yes there's an adult and a children's edition.

The London Eye Mystery I think the main character has some form of autism.
