A friend has contracted a serious illness while on holiday in France. She is obviously very unwell but also bored and lonely because it's difficult for friends and family to visit (it's not Paris)and she doesn't speak French. I'd like to do something to cheer her up, but need suggestions.
First of all, maybe this is a naive question but will a French hospital receive cards and gifts for patients by post/delivery and pass them on?
Secondly, has anyone had experience of spending time in a hospital in a foreign country without visitors and not knowing the language? What would you have liked to receive? What did you miss ?
