People with similar MN names

I’ve just noticed someone has the same NN as me but without the ‘The’.

Has anyone experienced this?

FWIW I have had this name for quite some time and been here for years. I’m not name changing because of this.

I presume there must be a lot of similar names, when I changed to this one I had to try a few numbers before I came across one that wasn't already taken.

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember the posters name but, for example, their user name was goodwill and another poster used he name goodwill (capital i followed by an l at the end, iyswim). A few other poster then came on saying the same sort of thing had happened to them.

Oops. I hadn’t seen that thread. It’s just a tad galling as the other poster, whilst I’m sure is a delightful person, might be a dick!

There was a thread that took off one day someone called Mortificado or similar had their name copied and the original started a miffed thread everyone started changing their names to similar I think it's in Classics

Some of the similarities are, undoubtedly, accidental. But there have been some which have been set up to cause trouble for the original 'name owner'.
