Sleepy Newborn

I have a ten day old baby, and all she does is sleep!

My eldest was a screamer who was awake for lots of the day, but she later turned out to have silent reflux.

Is it normal for a newborn to sleep so much? Baby has eaten well every 2.5/3 hours ish (I've disturbed her to feed her) and stirs/wakes briefly when I change her or undress her. But apart from that she's been asleep since about 4am!

Since birth she's been like this. She did have slight jaundice at her five day check but far below the treatment line and she's lost the yellow look since then.

I feel like a first timer again, she's so different to my eldest.

Normal or cause for concern?

normal as long as she is eating fine and you keep waking her for feeds. plenty of wet and dirty nappies. enjoy the peace while it lasts. are you seeing hv today at day 10? she should reassure you. xx

Normal in my experience. I had to set an alarm to feed mine through the night. Enjoy it while it lasts and congratulations. X

My first was like this for the first few weeks and then a terrible sleeper for the following 3 years.

So make the most of it!

She woke for about an hour after her last bottle and is now sleeping again!

I will just enjoy the peace while it lasts! As I say my eldest was a refluxer and I never got an hours respite with her bless her heart so I was expecting similar this time. Fingers crossed this one will just be more chilled!
