When did I conceive

I had my last period on the 21/6/18 I got a positive pregnancy test on the 18th July
My early pregnancy scan said I am 11 weeks 5 days , could this pregnancy be from having sex the 5th of June

They count from first day of last period until scan then it's conception plus 2 weeks

If your LMP was the 21st June and you got a positive pregnancy test on 18th July, it seems unlikely that you conceived on 5th June, because you had a period afterwards.

Your period dates and the scan (assuming you it within the last few days) both suggest that you conceived somewhere around 5th July, not June.

A pregnancy scan at 11-12 weeks will be very accurate. It will date from the beginning of your cycle though so take off two weeks roughly. When was the scan done?

I’m pretty sure it was a period but now I’m doubting myself if it was from having sex on the 5th of June would I be further along ?

You'd be 16 weeks if it was from 5th June

Have you had sex since 5th June? If not, then obvs it must've been then despite scan and period dates suggesting otherwise.

If you have had sex since, then round about 9 weeks 4/5 days before the scan and 2 weeks after your last period (21st June) is most likely time you conceived - ie 5th July-ish.

I had sex all throughout June and beginning of July is it possible for the dates to be completely wrong though. I took a pregnancy test on ge 25th June and it was negative but I just still want to be sure when I conceived

As a previous poster said, dating scans are pretty accurate so there’s really no chance the baby was conceived much earlier than the scan says, and certainly not weeks and weeks earlier.

Are you trying to ask a question about paternity, OP?

No. That would give you a date PRIOR to conception - approx 2 weeks before. The dating of a pregnancy (as in 4/5/6 weeks, or whatever pregnant) includes the 2 weeks of your cycle between last period and conception date. You will have conceived about 9 weeks and 5 days before the scan date.

The first 2 weeks of that cycle you were not actually pregnant. It is confusing and potentially causes lots of trouble for people, but for some reason, that's how we refer to it. A woman can be referred to as "6 weeks pregnant" but only have lost her virginity 4 weeks earlier.

I stand corrected oohyoudevilyou, I’d kind of forgotten whether the dating scan dates the age of the foetus from conception or LMP, but you’re right, it’s LMP of course.

The dating scan will not be that much out. Days maybe but not weeks.

When was your scan? That’ll be the determiner.

I just had an early pregnancy scan today because of bleeding and I’m 11 weeks and 6 days she said so she said I would of conceived the beginning of July so June the 5th is way out? For the day I had sex

Yes, way out. You didn’t conceive on June 5th. You didn’t conceive in June full stop. You had your period at the end of June.

That’s what I fort but then I started doubting the bleed was a period but from the dates they have given It should be July

And people have told you. Assuming your scan was today then take away 2 weeks, so you conceived approximately 9 weeks 5 days ago.

Bear in mind that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days, so the day conception (sperm fertilizing egg) happened may have been a few days after you last had sex. Or it could have been within minutes: It's not an exact science.

Yeah I get that but that means it could of been anywhere between the end of June and beginning of July I hVe my dating Scan Friday the midwife said they should be able to give me a window of when

Well a 5 day window is usually enough for most people -why do you need to know exactly? Unless you had ICSI no-one could say exactly when fertilisation took place. If you slept with two people within a really short time, during your fertile period, it may take a DNA test to determine paternity.
