Would the Apple store “teach” my autistic DC how to use their laptop?

My teenage DC received a MacBook Air as a family birthday/early Christmas present after being fixated on getting one for AGES!!! But, as I anticipated, my DC doesn’t really understand how to use it and so it’s just gathering dust on the shelf which is awful, considering the cost.
I am not tech savvy in any way at all but I wondered if the Apple Store offer any after sales service in the way of training/teaching/familiarising the MacBook user? My DC has autism so has high anxiety levels but if either myself or DH went along then I’m sure they would be ok. Just wondering if anyone knows if Apple provide such a service?

I'm not sure, but I can tell you when I got my Macbook, I went on YouTube and there are loads of instruction videos that show you how everything works. Would your DC be ok with viewing those?

They do some sessions, if you google ‘Apple in store tutorial’.

Have you tried watching YouTube videos? I would think that is much less stressful than going to a loud and busy Apple store. I would ask school if there are any pupils in higher grades that do tutoring or advertise for someone on FB to come into your home and demonstrate in a safe and quiet environment.

I agree that YouTube is very good for this sort of thing. You can pause and rewind the vids if you miss something as well.

Yes they definitely do offer that service (or did about 3 years ago). You pay for it but it's pretty good
