**I'll try again!** As if getting maintenance isn't hard enough without women like this! (BBC news link)

I get next to nothing from DD's dad and this woman thinks she can get away with this? I'm honestly shocked Shock

That links to a story about a missing child, and the police speak to a woman who says they’ve got the wrong person and she’s not the mum.
Is that the story you meant?

SquishySquirmy · 12/09/2018 09:24

This is a very bizarre story, I can't quite work out what's happened but someone has committed some kind of fraud and identity theft??

However, this has absolutely nothing at all to do with the difficulty other parents face getting maintenance payments.
Men (almost always men)who don't pay maintenance rarely do so because they have grounds to doubt the existence of their child. They do so because they are greedy, mean twats.

To claim this case has anything to do with the difficulty some women face over maintenance is a really convuluted way to twist everything round into being a woman's fault somehow.

purplelass · 12/09/2018 09:24

Is that the story you meant?
Yes - she was using the fake child to claim maintenance from the 'father' and he was paying, poor chap

Or have I got it completely wrong?
There's not enough information really, I can't get what the woman's done?
Thought it was some kind of fraud but did she report the child missing erroneously?

glintandglide · 12/09/2018 09:27

This was on a recent episode of reported missing (still on iPlayer) she borrowed someone else’s child and pretended it was hers and a mans, john. John had lots of contact with the child and paid maintenance. Then the contact disappeared John took her to court. Eventually it all came out it was a fraud.

Very strange and very sad case. Don’t know what it has to do with getting maintenence out of your shitty ex partner though

WerewolfNumber1 · 12/09/2018 09:27

Ok, there’s nothing about that in the clip you linked to so it was a bit confusing.

So you mean she lied that she’d had his child and he paid maintenance withou ever meeting the child or seeing a birth certificate or any evidence the child existed?

That’s obviously fraud. Really don’t think it’s relevant to the broader maintenance issues tbh.

purplelass · 12/09/2018 09:27

However, this has absolutely nothing at all to do with the difficulty other parents face getting maintenance payments.

It just came at the wrong time for me I guess - my ex won't pay anywhere near what he should and quit his job when I went through CSA so that they couldn't make him pay. Seeing this woman get maintenance doesn't affect my problem at all, agreed, just smarts a bit...

Well she’s in prison now. It was fraud, not really related to the general concept of men paying maintenance

WerewolfNumber1 · 12/09/2018 09:28

@glintandglide thank you for the explanation, that makes more sense.

Again, don’t think this is anything to do with broader issues, it’s just one rather nasty woman.

SquishySquirmy · 12/09/2018 09:28

Ahh ok, cross post.

This still has nothing to do with how hard maintenance claims between other parents.
Just a brazen fraudster committing a weird, nasty fraud and getting caught out eventually.

50Running50 · 12/09/2018 09:28

Ugh that's vile!!

I hope she's now in prison??

purplelass · 12/09/2018 09:29

Ah, the clip on facebook did say she was using the fake child to get maintenance from him, I assumed this one was the same clip. Obviously not!

If there was a delete button I'd press it now - sorry for the confusion!

Did she target him? I see what you mean op and how it's hot home with you

Lots of men would pay out unquestioning paternity....a manipulative cow comes along and he does 'the right thing'

Poor bloke.

glintandglide · 12/09/2018 09:30

Well worst thing was it wasn’t a fake child. It was more than one real child that she was supposed to be looking after for friends. Poor bloke thought the boy was his. The child had a relationship with johns parents (as grandparents) and everything

BabySharkAteMyHamster · 12/09/2018 10:24

Oh it was do ssd. The little bedroom full of Christmas presents and the bike he bought him broke my heart. He kept his cup and first shoes but was trying to move on. Cleary struggling massively with it. I think he wrote a letter to the childs parents praising them for raiding such a lovely child. :/
