Giant Spider (Warning -photo)

This happened the other day outside our kitchen. One smaller spider caught and killed a much larger spider. It was quite shockingly gruesome.
It burst it open and sucked it's insides out. When I went back to look the next morning the bigger spider carcass had been sucked dry and discarded. It was fascinating.
In the photo- not perfectly clear sorry- the pale yellow stuff is the insides of the bigger spider. You need to look really carefully to see how really big it was.
The smaller one lives in our kitchen wall- goes in and out of an airbrick.

Impressive hunting skills from the little guy!

I didn't used to know that spiders ate other spiders. I learnt after seeing a couple of spiders in the bath one morning, thinking "oh I'll get them out after work", returning and finding one spider and a leg.

I thought at first she was trying to haul the big one back into her lair but she wasn't. She was just eating it. I read up on snake spiders; the female lays her eggs in the lair and they hatch and eat her!
