I get next to nothing from DD's dad and this woman thinks she can get away with this? I'm honestly shocked Shock

What does this have to do with child maintenance?

MorningsEleven · 12/09/2018 11:36

Que?

AdoreTheBeach · 12/09/2018 11:42

Op, I think it’s the wrong link. BBC link is about a missing 5 year old boy in the Manchester area. (Very alarming story though.)

ZeroFuchsGiven · 12/09/2018 11:45

I watched this last week, In the programme a father reports his 5 year old son missing, hadn't seen him for 2 years and his solicitor advised him to call the police. It turns out the 'Mother' did not have a 5 year old child at all and had been using a friends child from a baby to build a relationship with the 'Dad' and to claim child maintenance.

The real parents knew nothing about it and the 'Mum' went to prison.

The woman pretended that a friend’s child was her ex partner’s son to get thousands for maintence out of him. He reported the boy as missing as he hadn’t had contact in quite a while. I watched the show when it was on and was disgusted beyond belief!

The bit at the end of the show where the detective reads the letter from the "dad" to the kids real parents is heartbreaking- brings it home what he went through and the effect it had on his life.
