Flu and twins birthday

Pretty sure I have flu. Came on very suddenly yesterday - out of nowhere I had an upset stomach, a mild fever, raging headache and a terrible sore throat. No coughing or sneezing (yet). My entire body is extremely painful, but then I already have ME and Fibro, so that’s not unusual, but it is definitely much worse than normal. This morning there’s all manner is disgusting gunk in my sinuses too. I feel like death warmed up, basically.

It is my twins’ 2nd birthday on Sunday. Was planning a relaxed get together here for a bunch of twins. Obviously if I’m sick I’m going to have to cancel that, don’t want to get others sick.

I’m so worried about the boys getting sick (one has an existing illness that’s exacerbated by even mild bugs so I know flu could be a disaster), let alone them having flu for their birthday.

Is there anything I can do to stop them getting it? Currently using alcohol hand gel on my hands after blowing my nose, not kissing them etc. I’m not coughing or sneezing yet so hopefully I shouldn’t be spreading it too far?

We went to bloody soft play last weekend so I am sure it came from there - we had stopped going as we always get sick afterwards! If I’ve caughg it from there, they probably have too, right? Ugh.

What a shame
Open all the windows
Orange juice always makes me feel like I'm fighting germs 😂
Keep your liquids up
Have your any of that germ spray in?

No advice, but plenty of sympathy from another Fibro person who hasn't been able to swallow for the past five days due to an incredibly painful throat.

Do what you can, even you have to postpone it won't be the end of the world. Your twins are only turning two, they won't know or care if you put of their birthday for a week or so.

Take care Thanks

I have never heard of germ spray but I really need some! I never used to be neurotic about germs but now I have kids I’m so worried about getting them sick! (Mostly for selfish reasons, as looking after two sick toddlers when you’re sick yourself is the absolute worst!)

So lucky my DH works from home and can do the lions share today because I can’t even lift them! Ugh, how long does flu last?!

If it's the proper flu I was off work for two weeks, but only ever had it once.

Oh no :(

I had an awful illness at uni nearly 20 years ago which looking back I think may have been flu, but only colds since. I know some people throw the word flu around for every sniffle but definitely not me.

Have just cancelled the boys party which I feel shit about but for the best. Will reschedule when I’m up to it I guess.
