Stupid smoke alarm is beeping downstairs which means battery needs replacing. It’s on the mains. I went down 1.5 hours ago to shut front room door went back up. Can’t go back to sleep! I’m exhaustrd! Da has sleep walked into my bed so he’s snoring and can hear the beeping. I don’t think I have the battery for the alarm so can’t eveb watch tv as it’s in the same room! Do all smoke alarms use a square battery? I’m worried if I open it up to look that I’ll somehow set the alarm off and wake the dc!

Do you have to turn the power off to the smoke alarm on the fuse board before taking the battery out?

I think you just remove the battery

This reminds me of the smoke alarm scene with Phoebe in Friends. 😂

Oh my goodness yes that’s exactly what it was like!! Iv stuffed it under some cushions and it’s quiet. Ds woke up though so Iv given up and got up has a coffee and trying make him go back to sleep on the sofa! Every time this has happened to me over the years it’s always in the middle of the bloody night! I will be buying spare of the batteries and doing upstairs alarm at the same time!

This has reminded me that our back hall’s smoke alarm started beeping a few weeks ago I’m the middle of the night so I took it down and removed the battery....and have never put it back up again! Blush No 1 job for tomorrow then...

Yes definitely get it back up, many people have died because of not replacing batteries. My smoke alarms are literally bottom of stairs and then Top of stairs so meters apart but will be getting batteries in a couple of hours!

I'm up. DD has come into our bed and I'm pregnancy and can't get comfy with no room and a pair of feet on my pillow! So having a cuppa downstairs on the sofa. Got to be up for work in an hour anyway 😩

Ilmb · 12/09/2018 05:03

Yeah I’m always up by 6am so when it’s only a couple of hours think my brain goes ‘nah don’t bother going back to sleep’ despite my body screaming for sleep! Have a head ache now! Ds on the sofa pretending to be asleep!

My youngest woke up at 1:10am. Hoped if I reassured him I was there he'd go back to sleep, didn't work. Tried rocking - didn't work. Singing to him - didn't work. Brought him downstairs and gave him his milk - didn't work. Sat him in his chair and escaped to make coffee - he was asleep! Picked him out, he woke up.. Tried all the above again, no joy. Back in chair.. asleep again. Waited 30 mins, woke up when I tried to lift him (this was despite not strapped him in the 2nd time.

Needless to say he's in his chair (which thankfully lies back too) and is asleep. I however am not. His eldest brother will be up in about 20 minutes or so, soon followed by his wild brother.

I'll be shattered tomorrow but hopefully he won't be grumpy so hoping for an easy relaxing day (haha.. no chance!) I'd have tried to get some sleep on the sofa but he'll either climb out or the eldest will shout and I won't hear him then I'll probably over sleep...

My eldest will be up soon aswell. Got to get through work!! Trying to give up sugar, I think today won’t be the day to do it!
