50th birthday gift to Australia. Any advice?

Have left it late to send my friend in Australia a 50th birthday pressie. I’m clean out of ideas, both for what to get her and where/how to get it. Advice or suggestions would be gratefully welcomed!

How long do you have to get it to them? Is it worth looking at Australian shops online and get something sent directly from there?

Londonheaded · 11/09/2018 18:23

Yes, thank you , that would be best. But I don’t really know of any Australian shops, and google hasn’t thrown up anything very helpful. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Gift voucher for David Jones - it's like John Lewis

Australia has amazon now.

Oh, and John Lewis deliver for £10. Much cheaper than postage.

I have used
https://theflowercompany.com/au
On a few occasions now for my friend in Australia and have been impressed each time.
Not quite so much as a rip off as some of the Aussie online gift places.
They do flowers, small selection of gifts and hamper type things Thanks

Many thanks for these suggestions. Am checking them out online.

What did you decide on in end OP?

MismatchedStripySocks · 15/09/2018 09:00

If not too late you can send an Amazon voucher directly to their inbox.

Next online deliver to Australia (very reasonable think they're trying to capture a market) and if you've ever had the misfortune of clothes shopping in Oz you'd think Next was couture Blush. My also 50 Dsis uses it frequently and as they're a season behind has acquired a reputation as a trendsetter.

There's a fab restaurant called Hogs Breath in Perth, might be a national chain, not sure. I've contacted them before and they've sent a meal voucher to my friends. They do AMAZING steak!

BlackandGold · 15/09/2018 09:10

I second the David Jones voucher; did this for my SIL birthday.

There are also fab chocolate places such as Koko Black or Haigh's that will deliver by post.

We left a Christmas present for my Dad in Oz far too late one year so I emailed a local restaurant and asked to pay for a meal from them and sent them the details
