If talking to someone on the phone on a Thursday, to book an engineer to fit your cooker and hob, they said an engineer will be out next Tuesday, would you think, the Tuesday coming up or the 18th?

The next one... so the one coming up.

If you asked DH he'd say the opposite though Grin

NetballHoop · 11/09/2018 16:26

The Tuesday coming. The 18th would.be Tuesday week.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/09/2018 16:26

I’d say C U Next Tuesday

Heh heh heh

grumiosmum · 11/09/2018 16:26

I would have checked the date before I hung up. This Tuesday vs. next Tuesday can be confusing.

PiggeryPorcombe · 11/09/2018 16:26

Hmm well if the call was on Thursday I would say “see you on Tuesday” for the following Tuesday and “see you next Tuesday” for the one the week after. I am, however, frequently wrong about a lot of thing so I would probably say the date as well.

Not sure what your cooker fitting person meant. I’d have to phone and check.

TheFaerieQueene · 11/09/2018 16:27

The next Tuesday to come along.

Did they say c u next Tuesday? 🤣

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 11/09/2018 16:42

Thank you, I was fuming 😤 but you have made me laugh with all the C U Next Tuesdays 😂.
We have no cooker (the element went, nope not working any more, stuff you) so new cooker bought and booked in, delivered last Tuesday only to be told, we need a 16 amp fuse in the fuse board not a 32 or 35 amp fuse (not entirely sure which one we had)😤, we were not made aware of this when buying the oven even with the engineers telling their managers and the store workers! So got the fuse changed re booked for an engineer, the lady said next Tuesday, waited in all day today, phoned them not long ago, and the man said unfortunately it's Tuesday the 18th, he also said that the lady I spoke to should have said Tuesday the 18th, not next Tuesday!

Does any one have any really good hob only meals, that won't cost the bloody earth, pretty please? X

I don’t have a microwave or toaster or any other kitchen appliance, and only use my oven about once a month. Literally ALL my dishes are hob food!

Pasta
Stir fry
Curry
Fajitas
Sautéed chicken with salad
Soup and bread

There is looooaaaadddssss you can do!

grumiosmum · 11/09/2018 16:54

Risotto
sausage & bean stew

Lwmommy · 11/09/2018 17:43

We've just had a lovely cheap 1 pot hob meal.

Fry off some strips of chicken breast until browned, chuck in a jar of chunky veg pasta sauce and a packet of microwave rice and any freezer veg you fancy like.peas/sweetcorn/green beans.

Leave to simmer for 15-20 mins and serve.

Lucylugs · 11/09/2018 17:49

Jamie Oliver 15 min meals are all hob cooked I think.

Thank you all, might get my DS to do his risotto tomorrow. Just got to try and figure out what we are having tonight to go with my vodka Smile
