(NC'd for this)

DM passed away last year. DB handling commissioning a plaque (lawn cemetery) and has suggested a wording with "sorely missed".

As soon as I saw it, it jarred in my ears as having a slightly "off" tone Hmm

My suggestion is "sadly" - seems better.

I have a feeling it's a moot point, as DB seems to be telling rather than asking, and I haven't the energy to argue. But I'm curious about the MN verdict ?

Sorry for your loss op Flowers
I would go with sadly personally. Sorely sounds a bit, I dunno, American?

Sadly is definitely better. There’s something not quite right about ‘sorely’ Could a compromise be reached and you don’t put anything like that and say something like ‘much loved mum of xx and grandma of xxx, always remembered’ Flowers
