Christmas markets...

Want to take the kids to a Christmas market this year, mid December, have narrowed it down to Krakow, Prague or Cologne, any thoughts on these? Or am I missing somewhere else lovely? There will be 2 adults and 7 kids , would like there to be something to entertain them during the day as well as pretty lights and Christmas music Grin snow would be an absolute bonus!

Been to Cologne and it was lovely a few years ago. There were 4 separate Xmas markets around the city and you coul catch the dotto Road train to take you between the different ones.

Each market had a couple of fairground type rides (roundabouts, big wheels etc- most of them for younger children tbh) which were nice.

There was a large ice skating rink which kids might enjoy.

There was also a chocolate museum, we didn’t visit but may be an option?

We went in very early December on weekdays and it was nice and quiet (our DCs were 1 and 3 I think). I have heard that they get much busier further into December, even more so at weekends. It’s something to bear in mind given that there will be only 2 adults and quite a few kids to keep track of, might be easy to lose them in crowds.

We stayed at the Novotel and would recommend it.

Not been to the 3 you mention but be aware that most cities have several Christmas Markets. Quite often the main one can be fairly commercial, you may find others within the same city that are more authentic for example in Vienna this one. Try also searching for Advent Market.
