Major house building next to me....to move or not to move?

I am in a real dilemma. Family of five, four bed, two garage detached house on the edge of a small town. My teens can walk to school and utilise the local town, all good. House fits us all in, we are settled.

Major development of 1,000 houses, plus school etc being built right behind me. I usually know my own mind but I really don't know how to feel about it.

The development will take up to ten years and obviously turn a quiet part of town into a busy one. Does anyone have any experience of this and the possible disruption it will cause. We could move, we would have to borrow more but it's doable.

It's happening everywhere, so sad and yet a lot of potential sites in the towns and cities not being utilised.
It sounds as if where you are now is really convenient for all of you. I'd be inclined to stay for a few more years until your teens are older and maybe making their own lives, then think about where you need to move to and what your next house should be like.
You could speak to an estate agent but as the plans are already announced I can't see how waiting would affect house values. Surprisingly they sometimes go up after a development nearby, especially if a new school is included.

I'd move without hesitation but then I hate new housing estates and being overlooked.

We are already near an outstanding primary and two outstanding secondary schools.

My heart is telling me that I can't live with it and to move to the nearby countryside, my head is telling me that moving will be a massive headache and I will become a taxi.

The traffic is already awful and getting worse, god knows how the town will cope with the extra traffic.
