Under-skin lump on my labia majora

I'm sure it's just a cyst but I keep googling cancer. Freaking me right out.

Had anyone ever had a lump (mines the size of a blueberry) under the skin (i.e. I can't see it's there but I can feel it) on their labia majora? When I push on it, it feels firm and moves around a bit. It's like there's a marble stuck under my skin!

I only noticed it yesterday.

I do Blush

Assumed it’s an ingrown hair?

AbsentmindedWoman · 11/09/2018 08:17

I had a tiny hard lump there once! Turned out to be nothing, tbh can't even remember if it was a cyst or a blocked gland or something but the GP said it was harmless and then it disappeared.

Go and get it checked out, but try not to worry!

Bartholin's cyst. No problem. Hot compress reduces. Allegedly will go away in its own time. Do get checked, but they'll almost certainly tell you that there is nothing to worry about.

Well, definitely get it checked out - it isn't worth taking risks with lumps. But if you can move it, it is almost certainly a cyst, though if it is painful, it might be a small abscess.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 11/09/2018 08:23

If it's the size of a blueberry it won't be a bartholin's cyst - they are more the size of a date or a bit bigger. I've had two of them so I'm very sure of that.

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 11/09/2018 08:32

It's not bartholins cyst as although I described it as my labua majora it's right at the top of it near my clitoris. So not quite pubic region.

I've had a lump in the same place and it went away after a few days. Best get it checked out as any lump is worth being looked at. Try not to worry though. The chances of it being anything sinister are minuscule in comparison to all of the benign things - one of which it is LIKELY to be!

WipeYourFeet · 11/09/2018 08:46

I've had the misfortune to have a Bartholin's cyst on two occasions. They were the size of a blueberry- confirmed by GP.
OP that's likely what it is. But always get checked by a doctor.

Ive had a lump like that, was essentially a spot but the funk had gotten trapped under the surface. Got it checked out my the GP as a matter of course.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/09/2018 08:49

Please make an appointment to see your GP, or go to your local clinic.
Chances are, that it will be nothing sinister, never leave lumps to chance.

ilovechurros · 11/09/2018 08:52

Yes, I’ve had this, more than once actually. I’ve been terrified every time one has appeared but it’s always gone within a week. I’ve always promised myself that I’ll go to the GP if it hasn’t gone after a week, and luckily, I’ve never had to go!

Elphame · 11/09/2018 09:12

Could be a sebaceous cyst. They are common there. Get it checked out by your gp though just in case

EyeDrops · 11/09/2018 09:56

Get checked! I had a cyst there, bloody painful. I think I got given some antibiotics and it went away after a few days.

fantasmasgoria1 · 11/09/2018 10:59

I had a pea sized lump there a few years ago. Wrongly I know I popped it with a sterile needle! The amount of pus in there
Was horrible! But if I had not popped it I would have been worrying! It totally went away and I have been examined for ectropion since and everything is normal!

Sarahandduck18 · 05/02/2019 22:00

I’ve still got this!

Realised from this thread that been 5 months and it hasn’t changed although there seems to be 2or 3 now rather than just one.

It’s tiny- less than 2mm.

Should I be worried?

MamaRaisingBoys · 26/09/2019 22:17

@Sarahandduck18 I’ve got pretty much this exact problem! Did you end up getting it checked out?

Chesntoots · 26/09/2019 23:28

I had this. It ended up being a very pussy spot. The amount if crap that came out was unbelievable but very satisfying!

ketchketch · 03/03/2021 19:32

i still have a lump on my labia majora. its been here for about 5 months now. i got it checked and the doctors told that my hair follilcle may have been impacted and that is why i got this. however, none of the prescribed medicines work. it lump pops out of my skin every now and then (say twice a month) and gets big and very very painful. it gets filled with pus and blood and it drains itself after a few days but the lump always remains back. idk what to do anymore. it hurts so much i want to cry and cry. i want a permanent solution. i cant bear this pain anymore.

meepster83 · 28/07/2021 15:06

I know this was years ago, but did you ever find out the diagnosis? Was it a cyst or something else? Googling my own current symptoms brought me to yours. I have the same thing, but I can actually see the lump when I look down there. Especially if I spread the skin etc....Mine is actually painful if I press on it even gently.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/07/2021 15:17

@ketchketch do you shave?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/07/2021 15:19

@meepster83 hot salty bath and hot compresses should do the trick.
