How many hours of sleep does your busy 12 year old get?

My year 8 dd really needs her sleep, so for her 10 hours is perfect. However, she has a long school day (independent school) and a couple of time intensive activities outside of school that she does not want to give up. This means she is pretty busy and during the week gets about 9 hours sleep, which is just enough but not ideal. She looks tired and sometimes I worry about it. But I think some of her friends get even less...

Mine is also 12 and in y8. She gets about 10 hours on a school night but even then she's shattered at the moment. She's finally starting to sleep a bit later on a weekend but by half term she will be knackered.

8-9 hours in the week but about 12 hours friday and saturday nights.

Mine’s in Y7and also needs a lot of sleep - I aim for 11 hours when we can fit it in, but like you, that’s not all the time. She never sleeps in on a weekend; just wakes up at 7 like on a school day

But most of her friends get less sleep; they often text up to about 10pm, so I guess 9 hours

thanks. I think I will need to make sure that on the days she can, she gets to bed a bit earlier, so that it evens out a bit.

Mine doesn’t seem to require sleep. It’s a malfunctioning model that has always felt that sleep is a waste of time. I reckon she gets 7/8 hrs max and she is Never Tired. She dances for 10+ hrs a week and has a heavy homework schedule too. She makes ME tired. She had a lie in the other day.... to 8.15am.

We have to get up pretty early for the bus but I try and ensure she gets 9 hours in the week. We let her sleep in where possible at the weekend to get 12 hours if possible

We aim for about 9 hours during the week, but it can be 12 hours at weekends and holidays.
Sleep, eat, school, eat, train eat, sleep.

My 12 year old DD probably gets 8 to 8 1/2 hours. She has strong feelings about going to bed at a certain time in the evening; last year it was 8:30pm absolute max and now it is 9pm. Our school day starts at 5:30am. I suspect when activities start again next week she will be retiring earlier.
