Upright vacuum cleaner recommendations?

I know there is a preference on MN for Miele. Our old DC07 went to friend in need and I was left with Henry. Just tried to tackle the carpets - fed up with shuffling fucking brush that gets clogged with my hair leaving bits behind.

I never got on with compact hoovers, I need an upright one, preferably one that lifts up the carpet as it goes leaving you in awe how much crap was hidden in it.

Any recommendations? Can’t spend hundreds on it, currently looking at refurbished Dysons before stupid “no more than 900 watts” rule for hoovers came to force.

Just replaced our Henry (BASTARD HENRY) with a DYSON cordless vacuum (V7 animal).

BEST DECISION EVER. It is so good. Doesn't fall apart, or suck the life out of the floor without lifting any dust. It's so fast and lifts EVERYTHING out of carpet. I get a sick satisfaction from the amount of dust, hair and dirt it gets 😳

Not sure what your budget is but the entry level Dyson stick is £250.

I have an old Dyson plus a newer cordless Dyson and I'm happy with both. But I've heard so many good things about the new Shark cleaner that if I was buying again I'd probably go for that one.

I am currently loving my new Shark. A million times better than my Dyson. I have the corded lift away, and is so easy to clean the stairs. Easy to steer, lights on the front and quite quiet.

£170.
