Hello, pretty sure I need to try and get the MAP today and I've got a few questions. Will it just trigger a period? And then my cycle changes so in 4 weeks from now I'll have another period or will I have my usual period in 2 weeks like I normally would? Does it mess up your cycle? Can I go to my local GUM clinic (there's one down the road from work) or should I call into a pharmacy and buy it? TIA!

I got mine from a pharmacy. I did have an early period, 2 weeks earlier that normal, and then my cycle did just carry on from there, not back to the normal cycle. The first period post map was very light and short (3 days) but the next one was heavy and longer (7 days) where mine are usually 4-5.

It does mess your system up a bit, but a small inconvenience rather than an unplanned pregnancy.

Okay thank you that's helpful Smile. I'm just a bit worried as I was taken off my pill by the doctor because of how shit it made me feel and I'm scared the MAP will tip me into depression again with the hormones but I think I'll be fine.

I took the MAP five months ago.

I am now five months pregnant.

Be aware it may not work if you have already ovulated (I was unaware of this!).

...although only learned it from Google, so maybe check this with your GP/chemist.

Oh interesting sex, well I fucking hope not! According to my app I don't ovulate until Weds so hopefully I'm safe. I definitely need the MAP don't I so close to ovulation? I've found a pharmacy that does it for free and I've also booked in for an STI screening.
