Has anyone seen School of Rock in London?

How would a 5 (nearly 6) year old find it? We are trying to find a show that both my 8 and 5 year olds will watch this December. They have grown out of younger stuff like Julia Donaldson etc. Already have a panto to see in january so we are looking for something else.

The subject will definitely interest them, just is it aimed bit higher than the younger child will manage?

I'd think the Lion King, Matilda, Aladdin would be more appropriate for that age group.

Thank you. Lion King and Matilda are out (vetoed by the 8yr old.) I'll look into Aladdin.

Any other suggestions for shows or events gratefully received (not directly christmassy).

Stomp, Wind in the Willows?

The Lion King is actually really well done.

I've not seen school of rock but apparently its a rally fun show as long as you don't mind a bit of mild swearing.

Aladdin is high energy, possibly a little pantomimey and I've heard mixed reviews as to the calibrea of some of the leads (but universal acclaim for the Genie)

We’ve just been to see Matilda and my 9 year old DS loved it! It’s not like the film. It’s quite dark in places, very funny, silly toilet type humour that kids love. I’d definitely recommend it.

Hmm. Dark will not go down well for my risk-averse 8yr old. nor will mild swearing for the 5yr old (too late, I fear for his older brother Hmm).

Maybe we should leave it a year and just do something else instead.

Matilda is dark, especially the acrobat and escapologist storyline. To be honest a 5/6 year olds would striggle to follow that sub-plot as its interwoven throughout the show but the creepy music is unmistakable
