Do your kids wear football boots or trainers?

What do your DC in primary school wear to play football? Do they really needed proper boots with studs when they are just in year 1?

For primary my Ds only played in normal trainers for school level that will be fine

Mine wear AstroTurf boots so a halfway between to proper boots.

I find they last a lot longer, my eldest kept making holes with his toes in normal trainers!

Thanks. That was my thinking. I am having pressure applied to get expensive boots though.

Astro’s and not expensive ones, they grow out of them so quickly.

Are astroturf ones ok on just grass though? I don't want any injuries (so would rather they were playing without studs anyway).

Trainers in KS1 (indoor PE)
Football boots in KS2 (outside PE)

If they’re just playing with friends or indoors, trainers are fine. Mine wore turf boots for outdoor/all weather pitch when they were at actual football training. Our club has a ban on blades/studs up to a certain age- there’s been some nasty injuries in the younger age groups with them. They don’t start playing on grass pitches until u13 anyway, so no need for the studs.

Normal trainers are all they need at that age.

Football boot or astro's are good for a birthday or Christmas present at that age though if they are very into football.

Our son wears studs. Makes a huge difference to him when playing on soft ground and wet grass. He wears Astros when the ground is rock hard.

Studs are band by our club (county) too, up to a certain age. Astro’s or moulded are good, don’t go expensive until they’ve stopped growing and decide they love it.

Both dd’s play, we’ve never had metal studs and they play u18 at a decent level.
