I live abroad and am coming to the U.K. for a month to work.
Accommodation and most meals provided by work and I'll be living within walking distance of work which is great as the location is quite remote.
I need / want to order a few things online such as toiletries that are too bulky and heavy for my meagre luggage allowance.
The only supermarket / retailer that will deliver to where I'll be living in Asda. (I can't drive and will mostly be working during the local supermarket / shop opening hours, particularly in the first week or two. Public transport exists but isn't very frequent and the accommodation is quite far from any shops).
I set up an Asda account, entered the delivery address, and created my shopping basket, spending just over the minimum 40 pounds.
Then when I went to pay it let me enter my credit card details (my card is registered in the E.U. country where I live, to my E.U. bank account - I don't have a British one) and then went to secure pay (where the bank texts you an 8 digit code that you enter onto the website to try and prevent fraudulent card use). The bank texted me the code, which I entered, and then the website froze.
I logged out and back in again, went through payment again, using a code from the bank the second time. Again, the site froze after entering it.
I didn't want to try a third time as receiving and paying for double shopping would be a bit mad but not a disaster whereas three times is a bit ridiculous.
Checked bank account and no payment has come out. Also haven't received a confirmation email (or any email) from Asda, and the online "trolley" is still showing on my account for me to continue shopping, rather than as an order.
This was on Friday. I can't get through to their phoneline (was engaged Friday night and yesterday, and today it's saying it's closed). I emailed on Friday and again yesterday to ask for clarification.
Is the glitch on the site or will it just not accept a foreign credit card?
