Telltale signs of someone who's off their face on coke?

What would these be? I'm fairly good at recognising people that are wasted on alcohol; the slurring, the weird sort of honesty and imbalance when they walk. And for one or two reasons I can spot an alcoholic who is hiding it well; a functional alcoholic, if you will.

But with coke what would it be? I suspect this of someone close to me but don't necessarily want to make any judgements as such just yet. When someone is drunk it's easy to spot but I'm not aware of what someone off their face on coke would necessarily be like, speaking very fast and rubbing their nose a lot?

I've got 3 friends who like a bit of coke, off they toddle to the loo and nobody cares because, well, live and let live. But...

Friend1 comes back absolutely awesome, dancing, happy, confident and just a sassier version of herself, bags of energy, funny as fuck, life and soul of the party.

Friend2 is smiley and bouncy but also edgy, she's chatty but also really paranoid, constantly sniffing and looking around a bit wild eyed, dry mouth, loses control of her face a bit, drinks and smokes loads, calms down after a few minutes until next time.

Friend3 shouldn't bother. It makes her really loud and serious about deep intense things... cancer, politics, depression, finances were on the last agenda ... things I don't want to chat about on a (rare) night out. Best avoided after her first trip to the toilets.

So, different strokes for different folks I guess, no prizes for knowing which one I prefer partying with!

Haven't read full thread but to answer the original question my first thought is just talking absolute shite 😂

DoinItForTheKids · 09/09/2018 21:18

You're not wrong there sparkling!

VladmirsPoutine · 09/09/2018 22:15

@LanguidLobster I did and they laughed and said "what do you think I am" in very offended incredulous tone. She definitely is but the truth often has a way of revealing itself at some point.

Wrt the course I'm just going to carry on volunteering there. I can't be dealing with all that. It is a pipe-dream but there we go - we all have one.

Everything in this thread puts me off to be honest! Just not a person who enjoys stimulants. And it's bloody expensive

StylishMummy · 10/09/2018 07:21

Constant talking
Thirst
Manic energy
Sniffing
Darting eyes
Hyper
Constant toilet trips

Yes to the PP who said it depends on the individual how their brain will react on it. Like alcohol, really.

It's also like alcohol in that you can take wildly varying doses of it.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/09/2018 10:03

A sense of grandiose

Pitch of voice is often different

Intense

Staring

Bigging thenselves up

Over sharing as no one is quite as interesting as they are

Clentched jaw

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/09/2018 10:06

But yes people do react differently also what they are mixing with the coke alcohol/other drugs

And how much they have taken and that depends on person to person

Malibucyprus · 10/09/2018 11:37

Haven't read the full thread, so these have probably been mentioned already:

Dodgy mouth/jaw movement
Sniffing
Not sniffing and ending up with candles (runny nose) as their nose is numb, so don't realise it's running
White powder in their nose hair
Going to the toilet regularly, and spending more than the required time for peeing in there
To add to the above, the toilet lid always being down, due to them kneeling on it to snort off the cistern
Being able to drink ridiculous amounts of alcohol and remain fairly sober
Their money (notes) curling at the edges due to being rolled up
Cut down straws in their pockets
If you check their bank card, there'll be coke residue due to using it to cut their lines
Being skint!!

My exH was a high functioning coke addict, took me years to work out why we never had any money, he hid it very well, always got up for work, still kept his appetite, didn't lose any weight etc...knowadays I can spot a coke user within minutes.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 10/09/2018 11:48

oh ye the cut down straw falling out of the pocket - bit of a giveaway.
That happened to my brother once but it was spotted by his secretary..Grin

DoinItForTheKids · 10/09/2018 11:57

Big yes to residue on the bank card - Christ, I'd forgotten that one! Oh the memories..

AsleepAllDay · 10/09/2018 12:08

Bank card with worn down edges and residue Grin

Bits of cling wrap and baggies

Rolled up bills

Almost any surface used as a sniffing point

I once threw out what looked like burnt out crumbs on a paper towel... turns out it was something being 'saved' oh god

DolorestheNewt · 10/09/2018 12:16

If you find a bit of what could be her septum knocking about, that's another dead giveaway. One bloke I know realised his had started to fall away while he was showering. I've always tried not to visualise it too closely in my mind. Oof.

AsleepAllDay · 10/09/2018 13:49

@DolorestheNewt that's so grim! And it does happen... I'm way too protective of my body to burn away such visible bits

pumpkinyael · 10/09/2018 14:00

This is just a word of caution:
I tend to talk a lot if I get the opportunity to do so, am often a bit jerky / hyper, have overshared quite often when I was younger (still do occasionally...), have an inhibited appetite and drink a lot (mostly water, coconut water or sports drinks).

The first few things are just how I am (I'm not NT), the last two are due to medication.

If you known the person well you'll obviously be able to pinpoint uncharacteristic behaviour. But not everyone with some of these symptoms is actually doing coke.

KnitFastDieWarm · 10/09/2018 14:20

In my experience:
people on coke = twitchy, rude, loud twats
people on MD/Ecstasy = hyper but gentle and friendly, like an overexcited Labrador
people on speed = fucking nutters, avoid!
people on ketamine = spaced out and quiet
stoned people = harmless but extraordinarily tedious to talk to unless you are stoned yourself

I knew my misspent youth would come on useful one day Grin

Nickyjayne · 21/01/2019 01:15

I'm the mother of a cocaine user..I'm the victim it's ruined me and my family..I don't know the person I've given birth too and raised.. it's just sad
