Bridget Jones's baby

I'm probably well behind here but the film has just been added to Netflix.

What a pile of nonsense it is!

I know Bridget was supposed to be a clumsy, ditsy woman but in this film she is 43, pregnant, doesn't know who the father is but is going about it all like a teenage girl in trouble. Stringing them both along because as a 43 year old woman she hasn't grown up enough to have an adult conversation with both potential fathers.

And those men still find her charming enough not to hate her when they find out she's been lying!

I know I know it's a film and supposed to be entertaining (this is slightly lighthearted too) but this is just an insult to the original book/film!

Two hours of my life wasted on this rubbish!

Agree it was a pile of pants.

Fraying · 08/09/2018 18:01

Yy it's nonsense but the Bridget Jones' films were always nonsense. I think the point of the Baby one is just that there are handsome men and some jokes. . . and sometimes that's all you need on a Saturday afternoon I'm very undemanding of my romcoms

LoniceraJaponica · 08/09/2018 18:01

I loved it. I thought it was better than the other two.

I thought it was crap too.
Not mention Renee's face being so weird.

Muddlingalongalone · 08/09/2018 18:04

Was planning to watch this tonight despite not liking the book - might not bother!

CiderBrains · 08/09/2018 18:06

I bet Huge Grant was relieved when they killed is character off!

I loved it and loved the soundtrack too. I laughed a lot.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/09/2018 18:06

Not seen the film but I got halfway through the book and binned it.
Utter bilge and I'll never forgive Helen Fielding for writing it.

Munchmallow · 08/09/2018 18:08

Give it a try Muddlingalongalone, I thought it was very funny Smile

Autumnchill · 08/09/2018 18:13

It is what it is, a romantic comedy, easy to watch (other than her face), light hearted and never going to be in contention for an Oscar!

BikeRunSki · 08/09/2018 18:16

It’s very much a third film, but I love it it. I am s big fan of Bridget though.

CiderBrains · 08/09/2018 18:17

What has happened to her face? She looks odd?

And she doesn't put on any weight during the pregnancy other than the bump? In the first two films it was a major thing in the films that she was not a size 8 and did all sorts to get slimmer but failed. So as someone who would find it hard to shift weight, it's not believable that her body wouldn't naturally go back to being bigger once pregnant.

I can watch it just for Patrick Dempsey! Blush

SoleBizzz · 08/09/2018 18:22

I really enjoyed It!

SandysMam · 08/09/2018 18:22

It’s funny and light and ridiculous and feel good. I thought it was brilliantly crap, and as Fraying said, sometimes that is exactly what you need!

LeftRightCentre · 08/09/2018 18:24

It was all a pile of steaming wank, about as funny as a mouldy tin of cat food.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 08/09/2018 18:24

I had to abandon this about 15 minutes in.
Dire.

AamdC · 08/09/2018 18:29

I watched it a few weeks ago i quite liked it although it was very predictable but far better than her last book "about a boy " which was dire

Queenofmyownheart · 08/09/2018 18:32

I must admit I watched it the other morning in bed (rare treat am loving dds being back at school!) and although I admit I did laugh sporadically, it's definitely not as good as the other two. Plus couldn't really get past how much plastic surgery Renee Zellweger has had 😂 and she just looks weird & ropey through all the film, even when she gets married her brows are horrific 😂😂😂

Rockbird · 08/09/2018 18:35

I went to see it under sufferance, not my thing at all, and it was a great laugh. It doesn't stand up to a second viewing but it's good enough for what it is.

itbemay · 08/09/2018 18:39

Agree it was disappointing

Violetroselily · 08/09/2018 18:42

Worth it for the revolving door scene alone

Pumperthepumper · 08/09/2018 18:46

It’s such a load of old shit. Bridget only has about three lines in the whole film too. It might even be worse than Sex and the City 2.

Petalflowers · 08/09/2018 18:51

I’ve discovered it on Netflix also, and it was perfect Sunday night viewing.

It was fairly entertaining and fairly predictable. I did think Rene looked a bit strange, and also ill.

As others have said, it’s a typical third film, okay, nothing exceptional, but okay to watch.

pugalugs90 · 08/09/2018 18:59

I absolutely loved it
