As soon as I get off mumsnet!
Anyone else?

We are starting the gym (taking kids with us) 3 nights a week plus DH and I have a hobby one night each. DS is in yr one and has homework and reading to do plus we both work and have all the housework to do.

I need to be more organised. I am thinking of doing a sort of rota of things that must be done every day, e.g Mondays, do washing, dishwasher, sweep floors, make lunches for next day and pack bags. Ds to do spellings and read one book.

Does anyone do this or have any tips for a better way to keep organised? Anyone else needing ideas?

The Organised Mum Method is great for a cleaning rota. The Facebook group (Team TOMM) is full of back to school tips too Grin

I have lists and will look at a rota as will be doing more hours at work. I think for me breaking it down to 5 min tasks helps so get tea on then unload the dishwasher. Kids empty their lunch boxes and pass me any letters as soon as they get home. Dates are added to calendar immediately and letters pinned to notice board with important bits highlighted. Seems to be working so far

Yes check out the organised Mum thread, I hadn't heard of it before but it looks great. I need to read it properly but it's something like 30 mins of housework Monday to Thursday then a blitz on Friday.

My top tip is to take photos on my phone of letters from the school etc so then I can shred the papers piling up.

And do one load of laundry every day without fail.
