Abrsm Music exam grade 5 - help?

Dds certificate says "xx was awarded the abrsm level 2 grade 5 singing and passed in the summer term 2018“

I presume this means she got a pass not a merit or distinction? She says all the certificates said the same even the girls who were very good.

No points on the certificate other than she got 18 credits at level 2,whatever they are Confused

If it's a merit or a distinction it does say on the certificate.

OK thanks

There used to be a separate sheet giving a full breakdown by the various components of the exam. Has this changed? (It's been a few years since DCs did theirs!).

The separate sheet shows the marks, so you can see what she got. It always says on the certificate what it is... but I would assume that includes passes too?

She hasn't given me any other sheet. Oh well, at least she passed!!

Stupid phone!
Her teacher might have the other sheet telling you the actual mark.

You should get the crit sheet which gives a breakdown of what marks she got for each section. If you haven’t had get DD to ask her teacher for it.

The 18 credit at level 2 thing is linking it to government standard qualifications and how many credits you have. From grade 6 it is level 3 which is low end A level standard. You can use your highest music exam from 6 upwards as UCAS points for university entry.

It does sound like none of the group got higher than a pass which does happen from time to time.

Yes it is a pass, it would say "passed with merit" etc. on the certificate. A pass is good, still means onwards and upwards! Better than a fail haha (bad memories grade 5 theory lol)
