Today's boring household appliance thread - tumble dryers

Our ancient tumble dryer is on its last legs. We've bought spare parts for it, repaired it, but the time has come. Because of it age it's a vented dryer, but looking on the internet most tumblers now seem to be condenser.

How well do they work? How do you get rid of the condensed water? And any recommendations for good ones would be welcome.

I have a vented creda fryer, only about 4 years old, I live it and it was cheap.

They collect water into a drawer, which you have to drain every few loads. It's great because you can have the dryer anywhere, you don't need a great big hose going outside.

We have a Bosch and it's fantastic - quiet, easy to clean the lint screen, has a light in the drum, auto shut off when the clothes are dry rather than just running or a set period of time, and uses a fraction of the electricity as our old Hotpoint.

We’ve got this Beko vented one. I know it says it’s out of stock but they have a 6kg one.

I love it. It stops when the load is dry. There’s no tank to empty and it’s not given me a minutes bother in the 3 years we’ve had it.

Thank you for the replies - it seems that preferences are split.

As the old one is vented we already have the space and accompanying hole in the wall, so maybe I'll go that way.

Go for one with sensor dry and as energy efficient as you can afford. We have a condenser :)
