Which cheap phone for y6 DS?

DS is in year 6 and walks a mile to school and back every day with pals. He's also started to go to the park to meet pals to play footy. I'd like him to have a basic phone so he can call and text me. I'm terrified of him owning a smart phone as I am super strict with internet access and don't want him seeing stuff he shouldn't. Or being glued to it!

What phone can you suggest that isn't a smart phone but will do the trick and looks as ok as possible? Or will he just be disappointed? Am I going to have to cave and get him a smart phone when he starts high school next year anyway? Do they all walk round with iPhones??

My 11yr old has had a brick Nokia (no camera or web access) for a few years now. He's taken it to secondary for this first week and said no one has said anything. The school has come down hard on phones and they're not allowed out during the school day.
A brick is also indestructible, fits in a pocket easily and the battery lasts for ever.
