DH went out with an old mate from uni who was in town last night. When he came home he was soberish. I asked him how his night was and he said his mate said something really weird
This guy is online dating and told DH he goes for the most attractive women on the site. All harmless? No! he told DH he does this because attractive women need taking down a peg or two. He leads them on basically promising them he's not talking to anyone else and planning to meet them to just cut contact a day before the meeting. WTAF??

He sounds vile. I've come across this before, men dating really attractive women who then treat them badly. Your phrase, "taking them down a peg or two", sums it up perfectly. Some of these girls are really nice and kind too and so hurt but the guy doesn't care, seems to think just because they are pretty and charming they'll get over it quickly and find someone else.

The men who do this are lacking in self esteem and have little confidence, they think they'll rebuff a girl before she does it to them and it is just not right.

If you come across this guy personally and the subject comes up, try and talk to him about it and point out how totally unfair he is. He's a creep.

On the plus side I suppose they don't have to actually meet him :o - if someone does this, they basically weed themselves out don't they. What a loser.

DH hasn't seen him does few years and isn't planning on seeing him again!
