How long for nhs employment checks?

Trying to work out the time scale to starting my new job. I got offered it on Friday. Sent back the thousands of forms did my id check at hr on Tuesday

How long will it take for them to do all the things they need to do and give me a start date? I'm so desperate to start!

Biggest delay is usually the DBS (previously CRB) check.

Itchybitsy · 07/09/2018 22:46

Ooh good! I have the update service!!

It can still take ages. 6 weeks would be very fast.

Notfootball · 08/09/2018 07:27

Since you are on the update service, could be done in 4 weeks, referees can be a bugger.

Redgreencoverplant · 08/09/2018 07:30

In our health board it's occupational health that delays everything. We are lucky if it takes less than two months.

MismatchedStripySocks · 08/09/2018 07:41

If your new manager is on the ball then they will be doing the bits they can do ASAP to speed it up and could be 10 ish weeks. Otherwise, who knows?!!

Pommes · 08/09/2018 07:46

DH's enhanced DBS check recently came back within 2 weeks.

galaxy101 · 08/09/2018 07:48

6ish weeks...they don't rush

Redgreencoverplant · 08/09/2018 07:57

My enhanced DBS just came back in one day (non NHS job), no idea how that was managed!

Spongeface · 08/09/2018 08:07

Currently waiting too .. since July. No date yet. Varies according to health board apparently mine is just one guy doing them all, he works part time and it's baby doctor season they said that slows things down. Hope you get yours soon!

Itchybitsy · 08/09/2018 14:29

Wow! Guess I'll just carry on with my bank shifts then!

My trust is notorious for delay. We've had candidates take other jobs because they are so sick of waiting. HR don't feel any obligation to the desperate clinical service.

AspieHere · 08/09/2018 15:01

Took me 2 months. Colleagues said theirs was 3 months. Don't hold your breath basically.

ItchyBitsy · 17/10/2018 07:29

Little update. Got a start date finally ! 29th of October.. 7 weeks since my interview and theyve had my references for a few weeks but there was a backlog

, then an awkward why haven't you done Occy health?

To which I replied because I haven't heard from
Them..

response- oh okay I'll send over the info now Grin

Then yesterday I got 4 emails in 5 minutes begging me to get in touch to confirm a start date and then 3 missed calls...

Mine took 9 weeks. It’s ridiculous.

ItchyBitsy · 17/10/2018 07:53

It is ridiculous isn't it? @FingerLickingGod especially when I sent all the forms back on the 1st September my agency got the reference request on the 2nd and asked for my dob and address as there are 2 of us apparently with the same name.. on the 13th of September my new employers responded and simultaneously told me that they still didn't have my reference..

The reference request went back into a queue for 3 days and they whinged that it hadn't happened ASAP.. then they just say on my Occy health review for weeks until last week, then I had bloods but they didn't tell me the results of them so I presume im clear!
