DH just made me a hot chocolate. Very nice of him. But when I got to the bottom I found the grossest thing in the world!!

There was a DEAD SLUG in the bottom of my hot chocolate!!!!!!

How the hell did a slug end up in my drink??? How can I ever get my mouth clean again? Am I going to become ill from almost drinking a slug?

On a positive note, a whole slug is a bit better than half a slug.....

Rachie1973 · 07/09/2018 23:02

when my ex was a milk man, the slugs used to climb up the wet milk bottles. Maybe it fell off that?

RaininSummer · 07/09/2018 23:03

Oh yuk. I get sluggy kitchen visitations too and it's never ocurred to me that they may go in the kettle.

LEMtheoriginal · 07/09/2018 23:03

Im not the only one to think Lungworm then!

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/09/2018 23:05

Thanks for that viques. I'm trying to think of that as a positive but can only get as far as slightly less horrendous.

DH has checked the kettle and apparently the outside of the screen at the top is a bit slimy, so that's how it got in my drink. Next question to answer is how it got to the kettle. And why it was my drink it ended up in when I have a hot drink once every couple of months and DH has several hot drinks a day.

Can people get lungworm? I didn't actually eat it like a dog would.

Christ almighty, I am going to burn my kettle right now!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/09/2018 23:12
Hmm

You’ll be fine Op but yes, it’s probably ruined hot chocolate for ever.

MissClareRemembers · 07/09/2018 23:13

You could always use it as a comedy moustache and do impressions of Charlie Chaplin?

FrogFairy · 07/09/2018 23:16

Eww, my stomach is churning in sympathy. Hopefully the boiling water killed any nasties.

I wonder how many Mumsnetters will check their kettles tonight for slugs?

HolyShmoly · 07/09/2018 23:19

THIS NEEDED A TRIGGER WARNING FOR SLUGS!

thisisme2018 · 07/09/2018 23:20

That is horrible. I had a similar situation. Was drinking tea my DH had made for me, and then felt something in my mouth. I spat it back in the cup, it was a big spider. Yuck yuck yuck! This was about 15 yrs ago and it still gives me shivers when I think about it.

GuavaPalava · 07/09/2018 23:27

I remember as a child draining my glass of milk and there being a huge moth at the bottom of it

fastfooder · 07/09/2018 23:31

OP PLEASE GO AND THROW UP RIGHT NOW I for sure am going to!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/09/2018 23:44

I took a mug down off a display shelf to use for a change and it had a big brown beetle dead inside it. Obviously I threw the beetle away outside and thoroughly boiled and rinsed the mug. I then went outside to sit on the patio and the beetle was slowly crawling away. It hadn’t been dead.

9amtrain · 08/09/2018 00:55

Fuck.

I'm wrapping everything I own in cling film.
