Grab

Bits

literally

Pop

I might literally pop to the shop and grab some bits Angry

There are so many! All of the PP’s

‘Boasting’ and ‘asking price’ when used in estate agent details I find really irrationally off putting.

‘To die for’ is a phrase that makes me wince ...really?....you’d die for that Chocolate cake/lemon mousse or whatever

‘Tipsy’ used in recipes such as Tipsy Trifle when there is the smallest amount of alcohol used

Hero

VeryFoolishFay · 09/09/2018 08:20

'Cheeky' makes me mad because it's usually not at all. Also 'pad', both as a noun and verb.

Peoplemaynoticeus · 09/09/2018 08:23

Hubby
Hun
Lovely (as in hiya lovely)
Darl
Momma bear

RumCustard · 09/09/2018 08:33

I love this thread. It's filling me with glee that I'm not alone!!!

TillyVonMilly · 09/09/2018 08:49

I’m putting organic on my list too, used to describe food, fine. It now seems to have become popular to use it in relation to anything.
Zeitgeist was another that I dislike but thankfully it has dropped out of fashion.

daisychain01 · 09/09/2018 09:08

There's nothing wrong with a front-bum. Not in our house anyway.

Bubbs Hmm
The Hubster (it must have the definite article for special effect on the smugg-o-meter) Angry
Wordsmithing Angry
Vag (pronounced Vadge) Hmm
Top drawer (sounds like something a car salesman would say!) Angry
Cheeky (as in, just stopped for a cheeky coffee and muffin - what's so cheeky about that?) Confused
Sanpro Envy just Envy

SentToTheSynByn · 09/09/2018 09:13

Posh. Especially used in recipes - Posh Sausages. No they are just sausages with fennel seeds added.

Also along the same lines aquaintances or work colleagues who end messages with kisses or kissing emojis. Just no.

Vegan - the whole fucking world has gone vegan and now everything has to be labelled as such. Frozen peas VEGAN. All the vegans got by for years without all this highlighting. Now all the faux new wave vegans need it pointing out to them.

chocolateworshipper · 09/09/2018 10:03

Diarise Angry

Used to work with someone who'd say "the net is ...." which meant "in summary ..." Gave me the rage.

CiderBrains · 09/09/2018 10:13

Blended family. 🙄

What ever happened to step kids/step parents, his kids/her kids?

Not everyone is trying to "blend" families just because both people have kids from a previous relationship!

PlainVanilla · 09/09/2018 10:28

Lounge, unless referring to a communal space in an hotel.
Toilet
Pardon

I also get irritated by seeing people on tv hold their glasses by the bowl, not the stem or place their knives and forks together, at the end of their meal, with the knife blade facing outwards.

Talith · 09/09/2018 10:36

Heads up. Makes me think of a bunch of meerkats in the Serengeti popping out of the long grass to hear that Steve from head office is in.

Pamper. Nappies have ruined the word!
Me time
Give your head a wobble
Brainfart
Cockwomble
Intercourse meaning sex. Does anyone actually use the word outside school sex education?

CiderBrains · 09/09/2018 10:39

Oh and "Family Room."

Usually signifies they are well off and have unused rooms in their house which no one is allowed to enter because it's left as a shrine for Christmas dinner only!

AuntieFesterAdams · 09/09/2018 14:22

reach out- as in I reached out to someone to find out something.

I want to scream. The word you are looking for is 'contact' or 'get in touch with'.

Bloody reach out indeed.

daisychain01 · 09/09/2018 15:35

Not everyone is trying to "blend" families just because both people have kids from a previous relationship!

The "Blended" bit is where both families conjoin and live together under the same roof, rather than it just being about 'kids from other relationships'.

MustBeThin · 09/09/2018 15:55

All this shit about "Catching feeling" Hmm I hate it, why have people started saying it. I'd never heard it before until a couple of years ago and now I hear it all the time.

Also hate the words conversate/conversating too Angry "we were conversating" no you were having a bloody conversation.

QueenOfMyWorld · 09/09/2018 15:56

Beaker, penis or otherwise is the most annoying word ever

JPduck · 09/09/2018 15:56
