Betty in Mad Men - just no need, it was the end of the series and unrealistic for a young woman to die of lung cancer

Cordelia in Angel - think they did this to get back at the actress for getting pregnant, the death was so senseless and ruined the long term story arc

Mark in ER - could he not have had a happy ending on that beach? Also it was such a rare condition.

Meg in Home and Away - this made teenage death seem so real

Chris in Stand By Me - a bad boy made good surely he was due good karma and a long life?

Luke and Han in Star Wars - just done for shock value

No one ever dies of dementia in films or tv!

George O’Malley in Grey’s Anatomy.

Beth in Little Women.

😪

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 08/09/2018 13:50

Jerry in Emmerdale. He was turning into a great character and was cheerful despite his upbringing and background. The way he'd shamelessly flirt with the females way too old for him was funny. I knew the end was nigh when they started shoe horning a father/son dynamic with Doug into the storyline a fortnight before he died.

billybagpuss · 08/09/2018 13:56

This is a great thread, definitely shows the generations too - how does anyone remember the plot of Flambards?

For me:
Tony in soldier soldier
Pretty much the entire cast of spooks
Vampire diaries doesn’t count death is only temporary there
Ginger in black beauty
Marissa OC

Pixel99 · 08/09/2018 14:02

Another vote for Lucy in ER. I also thought she was going to get / should have got together with Carter.

Davros · 08/09/2018 14:04

Nigel was the first name that popped into my head. Although I was pleased when Freda Fry was killed off, even if she didn't speak

PipeTheFuckDown · 08/09/2018 14:09

Oh God how did I forget Doyle?! “Is that it? Am I done?” Sad

JW is a massive TWAT.

Re Fred - the comics. If you’ve not read them or seen what happens in them. Honestly. It just hurt my heart more!

MikeUniformMike · 08/09/2018 14:09

Nic Grundy

kierenthecommunity · 08/09/2018 14:15

Lem in The Shield

I was going to say that, but wasn’t sure if anyone would have a clue what I was in about Grin

And then Shane’s death too, with his wife and kids Sad

DancingDot · 08/09/2018 14:15

Tom Fletcher in Home and Away - I was a youngster in the 80's/90's and he was like my dad....I was devastated.

Hushnownobodycares · 08/09/2018 14:26

Bambi's mum. Cried buckets when I was eight Hmm

Gene Hunt in Ashes to Ashes.

Lindsay Denton in Line Of Duty.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 08/09/2018 14:26

Mark Sloane in Greys Sad. Wasn’t so fussed about Derek but Meredith’s reaction was very heartwrenching.

It’s all my fault for reading this thread but OMG they kill Poussay off?! Nooooo! I’m seasons behind but she was always my favourite.

Another one hoping that Alice Morgan isn’t really dead. She’s a brilliant character.

Mumberjack · 08/09/2018 14:32

I’ve just finished the half blood prince so Dumbledore Sad and am choosing to remain in denial about the other characters mentioned in this thread before I start the deathly hallows!

I wasn’t that much of a cold feet fan but I remember watching the episode with Rachel and being stunned and crying. It was so brutally and quickly done.

MrsPworkingmummy · 08/09/2018 14:34

Ned Stark in Game of Thrones and Murtagh in Outlander.

Frogletmamma · 08/09/2018 14:35

Reg Cox in Eastenders. Stopped watching it after that. Grin

EnidButton · 08/09/2018 14:39

Dobby. There was no fucking need!

Bea in Wentworth. I guess it made sense but I was gutted at the time. Refused to watch the next series. Then watched it anyway. Grin

Riojasmooth · 08/09/2018 14:43

Elise in The Tunnel. Best box set I've watched and gutted there will be no more seasons.

EnidButton · 08/09/2018 14:44

Mumber Are you reading Harry Potter for the very first time? I'm very envious! Envy I'd avoid this thread if I were you.

NellieBee · 08/09/2018 14:45

I disagree about Poussey. Her death lead to fantastic seasons.

YY to Derek though, still not over it.

Tinty · 08/09/2018 14:55

@snowplop

Me too, I never watched another episode of Eastenders, after Danielle died. Terrible thing to do, poor girl.

Also the wife in UP, the childrens film, I realise the film wouldn't have worked if she had lived but I don't care, I wept buckets in the cinema when she died.
