Has there been a thread about the fabulous John Lewis ad?

I was utterly mesmerised by it.

And I think whatever it cost JL to make that, it was worth every single penny in terms of marketing.

All the other companies and brands who try so hard to win the best Christmas ad every year will be sobbing this week. JL have gazumped the lot of them.

Fair play.

fluffypinkpyjamas (love the name) It was said a bit tongue in cheek but JL don't generally run a long ad at any other time of the year so I suspect the other companies will be a touch put out that JL have had this picked up by the media.

And I've just read that this is their rebranding advert,

I love it. It's so random. I'm quite partial to Bohemian rhapsody too. Very good marketing.

I hope it's not their Christmas ad, don't want it on for the next 3+ months.

No other companies are going to be sobbing, nor are they going to be put out either. It’s just a really long dull advert the majority of people will skip/mute/moan over, which is a shame as they’re usually really on the ball.

No advert, however good, will ever get me to shop at JL, though.

I'm not a Christmas miser. I actually do t mind Christmas in September but I don't necessarily think it should be considered in September

Haha, this is what I'm wondering. Maybe we'll start seeing teaser trailers for Christmas adverts.

John Lewis started the Christmas ad. Now we're going to start seeing this sort of thing the second the schools go back from all the major retailers.

We've got a full term to complete before Christmas!
Stuff in shops ok, a little early but maybe some people want to be organised. An actual company doing an ad. Even if it is a pre ad is a bit too much

Nope. Boring rubbish. I turned it off half way through. I don't like 'cutsey children' ads at the best of times though.

I like it. Their adverts are always quite classy.

On the whole I don't think any advert has made me go to any shop in particular though.

I don't see how it ties to JL/Waitrose either.

I assumed that it was a school uniform advert the first time I saw it.

It's dreadful and my kids hate it. We're big fans of Queen in this house and dh says the remaining members should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the back catalogue to be abused in this way. He reckons Freddie would have vetoed the Flash ad. Seriously though it's waaay too long and causes a mad scramble for the remote. JL ads never normally bother us.

Only just watched it having seen this thread. Loved it, what's not to love? Great song, kids are cute and the point comes across well. It's very John Lewis style so you can tell it's them.

People are competitively miserable on this site sometimes...

I have never really understood the Queen hype. Bohemian Rhapsody is a really weird song that goes on way too long. But it works for the ad.
