Dd is having hers next weekend. Please give me ideas for how to entertain them!

I wouldn't expect to have to be entertaining them at that age tbh. What has your dd said she wants to happen? What is she into? My 9 year old ds just had a sleep over and they went upstairs for a bit, ate, did karaoke, went back upstairs, watched a film then told silly stories. I had little input aside from providing food and telling them they'd done enough karaoke Smile.

They generally entertain themselves so food and drink is the most important thing. Do you have any DVDs or ways to stream movies? Might be a good idea to think of some movies that they can watch. In order to reduce the risks of someone having watched a movie, I recommend movies that were popular with 9 year olds a while ago. If you plan to show a 12a check with the parents. Most 9 year olds are allowed but some may not be.

I remember Pitch Perfect "Cups" was about to take off when dd had her party. One of the girls taught the others how to do it and probably annoyed the lunchtime supervisors on Monday.

I'd have some games or activities ready. I think it was DD's 9th when we did a pamper party... We made face masks out of mushed up avocado (that one wasn't too good as a couple of them got very red in the face), they soaked their hands and feet (and a couple of red faces) in porridge oats to make them soft. We put cucumber on their eyes to make them sparkle (although they mostly just ate the cucumber!) and they dyed their hair bright colours with spray on/brush out hair dye.

Maybe a treasure hunt or a quiz could be fun.

Maybe get some movies in and get them to make popcorn.

Serve pizza - make or get in a load of bases and all sorts of toppings so they can make their own.

Make sure your child knows the curfew time when things need to quieten down at night.

9 yr olds are fun. Enjoy!

DS is having his tenth birthday sleepover tonight. We are having pizza and cake, going bowling, then coming back to watch a movie in sleeping bags.

T shirt decorating with cheap plain white T shirts, fabric pens, fabric glue, ribbons, gems etc...
Friendship bracelets
Nail art

Piñata
My DD played Googly Eyes www.argos.co.uk/product/5587724b at her cousin's house and loved it.

Thank you all. Dd has already said she wants to go to the park so we'll start with that. I know they can be self entertaining but the nights tend to be quite long so I'd love to have some things to fall back on. Pizzas and then film with popcorn definitely. Pamper stuff sounds good. Making own pizzas definitely a good idea as will kill time and hopefullt mean they'll eat it!
